"How do you know how much someone cares about you?"
"When they tell you."
"So what can I do if she's not telling me?" Riley and Josh are talking in Riley's bay window. Josh seems to want to know how much someone cares about him, but he won't say who and Riley had no idea.
"You can either wait," Riley answers, " or you can ask her."
"What if I can't do either?" He asks.
"You either do one or the other Josh, there really isn't much of a third option."
"So there is a third option?" He asks, "What is it?"
"You don't find out," Riley answers. "You either wait for her to tell you, you ask her, or you don't find out."
"What if I have good reasons for not being able to take those options?"
"What are those reasons? Besides not finding out, that's obvious."
"Well I can't wait, I have to know before I go to college," Josh says, "And I can't ask her."
"Why Josh?" Riley asks.
"I just can't okay? I have my own reasons."
"But I can't know if it's a good reason or not if you don't tell me," Riley reasons.
"Because it's Maya, okay?" He says, :I want to know how much she cares about me, but I can't just go ask her."
"Ohhh," Riley says, now understanding. "Do you like Maya?" She asks.
"I'm not sure but I want to know how much she cares about me first."
"Okay. Well then I don't think you need to wait or ask her."
"Why did the options change all of a sudden?" Josh asks.
"Because she's already told and shown you how much she cares about you in so many ways." Riley says, then leaves Josh to think about how many ways Maya has shown him just how much she loves him.
