Note: Post-ep for season 3's "The Execution of Catherine Willows". I've always liked that episode, liked the case⦠But I would've liked it even more if there was a little end with Catherine and Gil. This is what I would like that happened.
Spoilers: The Execution of Catherine Willows.
"I don't believe in luck. My only real purpose is to be smarter than the bad guys to find the evidence that they didn't know they left behind and make sense of it all. Makes me very uncomfortable to realize that this guy may be smarter than me."Jim Brass looked up at his co-worker, and smiled a little sad. After another couple of minutes of talking, he eventually left Grissom's office. Jim knew how fed up Grissom could be over things like this. And he couldn't really blame Grissom for that.
Grissom stayed in his office, staring at the paper work in front of him. He had wanted to solve the case. Not only because he hated it when criminals were smarter than him. Also because he wanted Catherine to know that she did the right thing. Grissom knew she was having bad feelings over the entire case.

Catherine stepped out of the car, that she'd parked in front of the crime lab. She wanted to go home to see her daughter, but first, she wanted to talk. She wanted comfort. She wanted to know she hadn't done a bad thing by witnessing the death of a man who murdered at least one young girl. And there was no one who could do that better than Grissom.
When Catherine stood in front of Grissom's office, she was able to smile a little bit. Seeing Grissom always made her smile. He had that effect on her. "You're still here." "So are you." He answered without looking up. Catherine walked inside his office, closed the door and sat down on the chair that was available.
Grissom looked up, and found an exhausted looking Catherine in front of him. Still as beautiful as always though, but exhausted. "Was it hard?"
Catherine nodded. "It was. It's just.. It's so strange. A man who's killed someone, is basically killed as well. It's just so.. So.."
"Contradictory?" Grissom finished her sentence. Catherine nodded, and Grissom continued. "I know. Don't let it get to you too much, Catherine. You've just done your job."
Catherine sighed. "I know. It's just so hard."
Grissom nodded. "I know. But you can't do anything about. You've just followed the evidence, like you should."
Catherine relaxed a little bit and got out of her chair and said: "Thanks. For making me feel better."
Grissom nodded and gave her a smile as well. "You're welcome."
Catherine grabbed her coat and walked to Grissom. "I'll see you tomorrow."
She gave him a quick peck on his cheek, and then left his office.
End.
