AN: To be honest, I don't know where to go with this, which is why I am putting it up here.

Mikado woke up that morning, naked, immodestly covered by the blaket and caged in Izaya's arms. There was little warmth that grey morning, the wind gently blew into the dirty orange room through the broken windows, letting the curtains flutter slightly.

"You don't remember do you?" Izaya said.

"No." That confirmation was all Izaya needed. He nodded, looking for a moment as if contemplating upon the profound, as gazing upon old, plywood door as if there was nothing there, as if there was no soul within his body.

"I don't know why I do it, you know? It is always completely ridiculous. It is completely absurd. There is no point in it."

"We did it, didn't we?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Izaya sat, rubbing his bestubbled chin. "I should shave, you know? It just feels strange to rub your chin with hair sticking out everywhere..."

"Why, Izaya?"

Izaya laughed. "Yet, I could never bring myself to do it, to create a false appearance of youth. There was no one to look at me anymore; there wasn't anybody there to care about it."

"You did it out of spite, didn't you?"

Izaya gave a small smile, no, not a smile, a false show of amiability. He was angry. "What spite?"

"That I am now what you were."

"Do you think that I am that petty, Mikado-kun?"

"Yes."

"Mikado, not everyone do something for a single motive, you should know that, being in this line of business. Maybe that was part of it, Mikado, but it wasn't all of it, and it certainly wasn't most of it."

He got up, taking out his cigarette. "You know, when I first started smoking, you know, when he died, I absolutely hated it...now, I can't go a five minutes without 'em."

Mikado glared at him, as he paced across the room. "Izaya, you don't miss him..."

"I do. I miss everyone. Shinra, Celty, Shiki, those Russians...in fact, I miss all of humanity. Everyone moved on without me, and you are the only one left who even associates with me."

"No, Izaya, I am only with you because you chased everyone away from me." Mikado murmured bitterly.

"No matter, you are the only one left."

Mikado slowly tried to walk, half limping, and weakly reaching for his clothes.

"We both have no one but each other, Mikado-kun, why are you so obstinate?"

Mikado glared at him, before leaving.
