Raelene
He sighed and wrapped her arms around her waist. He hadn't meant to kill her. His hand let go of her waist and let her slide gently to the floor starting to walk off already. She had been so beautiful he though, why had he killed her, why hadn't he just walked away when he saw her angelic face. His tongue slide across his elongated canines trying to find the slightest trace of blood left there. None, he realized his unconscious action of searching for the last traces of blood. He felt guilty as hell for doing that, not that he didn't already for killing the girl. He dug his hands into the pockets of his small tailored jacket and looked behind him at the body, now seeming distant but with his unnatural eyes it felt closure. He realized he could still smell her on his clothes and a bit on his skin. Why had he lured her out of the small club, he couldn't remember, he hadn't even been hungry. He pulled off his jacket and held it in one of his hands with it slung over his shoulder hoping the smell of her would dissipate quickly. She had been so young, her tender flesh seeming so perfect, her eyes so wide with wonder when she had first seen him and he had smiled. "Why did I smile, why in gods name did I have to smile", he cursed himself with those words for a time and then realizing he was saying it out loud sighed and shook his head trying to clear his thoughts. He stopped in the middle of an alley he had been walking through looking ahead and behind him, seeing that it was clear he jumped up onto the roof which had been easier then he had expected. Over the years all his strength had been increased due to the unnatural blood. Sitting on the edge of the roof he stared around at the surrounding buildings, he quickly scanned for other vampires but finding none he relaxed. His coat long forgotten lay at his side, the young girl still in his mind as he realized he hadn't even asked her name or scanned her mind for it. He stood up and assessed his surroundings then leapt to the next building. He strolled across it as if he were walking along a normal sidewalk; he smiled at the thought as if he were human. He gave a bit of a laugh and continued walking, though he didn't need to seem human he wanted to feel a bit human for awhile, it was nice to be reminded of what you were he thought. After leaping from building to building for a few minutes at is preternatural speed and strength he arrived at the apartment building he had been staying in the past few days. The dingy room was slightly cleaner then he remembered it had been when he left, maid he thought, he lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling. His eyes remained transfixed on one of the small ceiling tiles as he continued to think of her. He had been careless, he growled at his own ignorance of his limits. He closed his eyes and rolled onto his side, the small human gesture almost appealing to him until he realized how weak he had been as human. He shook his head again and tried to sleep like the dead he was.
