Okay, this is just my take on the day Fuuma comforted Kamui under the tree he held onto Kotori in. This was origionally part of a longer X fanfiction I'm doing, but that has been put on hiatus, for lack of…well, something. When I find out what that something is, those of you who have read it can expect an update. 3 But, the prologue of said fanfiction will be posted as a oneshot! Kindda… 3

Promises, from always and forever

Summer's heat rained down upon them, carrying the scent of old sakura blossoms and promises on its wing. Fuuma spread his hand across Kamui's forehead, soothing the scar with a deft touch. The boy shifted. "Ko…Kotori?" He mumbled. The slight boy lay dazed and confused in the arms of his dear, dear friend Fuuma.

"Kamui…" a gentle voice rasped.

"Fu…m…." came the sleepy squeak.

"That's right," Fuuma spoke, trying to comfort Kamui. "Its Fuuma, you're okay…." He was slightly shaken when his memory began to process.

"Kotori….!" He sobbed. "K-Kotori, she is--!"

"Sshh," Fuuma soothed, laying his hard, flat face against Kamui's soft bruised forehead. "She's alright. You've done a good job protecting her, you're so brave…" Kamui's eyes looked shocks. "Brave?" He squeaked cutely. If it came from an honest child like Fuuma, he could believe it.

"That's right, Kamui." He smiled gently at his younger friend in his arms, the sun casting octagons of light on Kamui's young, soft, childish face. Such a cutie…he thought and grinned.

"Fuuma!" Kamui shifted, a proud smile on is face. "I shall protect Kotori with all I have, yes, but I will protect Fuuma with all I have as well!" Fuuma was taken aback by the sudden declaration of the tiny, shy, and sweet, sweet Kamui. You really are to precious, Kamui... Fuuma huddled Kamui closer like a puppy. "No, Kamui… It will be I, who will protect you until I die, at all costs," Fuuma assured, and quietly whispered, "my sweet, precious love…" Kamui had missed that last comment and snuggled closer into his older friend.

"Fuuma will always protect me?"

"Yes."

"And I will always love Fuuma…."
