A/N: I assumed maybe this could be taken place during the last and final fight with Zeref, I'm sorry I felt really angst-y for Jerza. Hopefully nothing of this sort happens in the series, pls no.

As fast as her injured body could take her, she ran. Clutching her aching side, she continued running and running. Her and several other of her comrades sustained serious injuries during the brutal fight against Zeref. The battlefield was critical, and many people could even die from this battle.

No, she didn't want to lose anyone. Something in her heart ached that something bad was going to happen, which is why she kept her legs going. Her bare feet ran across the battlegrounds, she wore her flame pants and chest bandages, which were ripped to an extent to show proof of her hard battle.

Blood stained her arms, and torso. A stinging pain emitted from her side, but she didn't care. The only thing she yearned for was reaching the fallen body of her loved one. Pain surfaced on her face, clenching her jaw she made sure she made it by his side.

That aching feeling in her chest grew stronger after finally reaching him. Her eyes widened, and her body nearly began shaking. It wasn't until she saw his hazel eyes open up to gaze up at her that she felt her entire body freeze up.

''Erza.'' He spoke her name weakly, a pale smile grazing his features. Without hesitation, she fell to his knees to be at his side. She brushed the blue locks that fell in front of his eyes to the side, a frown formed on her lips.

''Y-You're so reckless...'' She scolded, desperately wishing the huge gash in his lower torso wasn't there. Jellal couldn't help but let out a small, lowly chuckle. ''This isn't funny...'' her free hand balled up into a fist as she punched the ground beside her, immediately regretting it as she winced from the pain in her side.

His hand rested on the hand she caressed his hair with, ''I do nothing but cause you pain, huh?'' Jellal sighed.

''Idiot, you...'' Erza tore away from his gaze, and bit down on her bottom lip as hard as she could to keep the tears from falling, but they fell down anyway. ''Not being able to be with you, it's the worst kind of pain imaginable...''

Jellal stood silent, there wasn't much else he could do at this point. He was pretty much helpless, bleeding to death while the one person he's always loved was sitting here crying for him.

He didn't deserve her tears, he really didn't. All he ever did, was cause her pain. He felt so pathetic, how could she even care for someone like him?

''Jellal...'' She laid her head on his chest, her tears falling through the side of her cheeks. The sound of her crying, it kept stabbing daggers into his heart.

He gently stroked her red tresses, hoping to comfort her. But... nothing could comfort the fact that she knew he was dying in front of him.

''Jellal...'' She seethed in frustration, and sorrow. ''Jellal, do you even know how much...'' her sniffles made it difficult for her to talk, but he could understand what he was trying to say.

''I know...'' His lips formed a sad smile, and he attempted to sit up despite the pain he felt. He groaned, but managed it.

Erza blinked in confusion, ''W-Why are you-'' he pressed his lips against hers, caressing her cheeks that continued to stream tears. Erza grabbed a small fist of his jacket, and kissed him back despite her abrupt surprise. These were the last few moments with him, she needed to savor every moment... every touch, every kiss...

He felt so warm, and comforting.

Jellal pulled away, pressing his forehead against hers. He whispered softly, ''I love you too, that'll never change my dear.'' a smile grazed his lips as he pulled her into his arms, holding onto her tightly. Who cares about pain? Being with her was worth it. ''Stay strong... for everyone.''

She closed her eyes, and rested her head against his chest. It wasn't until she felt his grip suddenly loosen, and his heartbeat stop that she felt like the whole world around her come to an end.

''J-Jellal?'' Her eyes widened, then pressing her ear against his chest to make sure. Nothing.

Nothing at all.

She looked up and saw his eyes peacefully close, with a smile. That area in her chest tightened even more, it was unbearable pain.

''Jellal...'' The red-head softly sobbed, carefully pushing his body down on the ground. The things she would do... just to have a few more minutes with him, or maybe even a few more decades.

Just give him back, is that too much to ask? Stop taking away people dear to her, is that too much to ask?!

She was tired of being strong, she was tired of being weak, she was tired of holding it all back. The tears just couldn't be held back anymore, why did it have to be him?

He tried so hard to atone for what he did, why does he always have to get screwed over? It doesn't just hurt him, it hurts Erza as well.

''Damn you...Zeref.'' She buried her face into her arms on top of his lifeless body, ''He doesn't deserve this, he doesn't!'' so close to freedom from that accursed black mage, yet now so far.

No... he was much happier now, being freed from this cruel, disgusting world.

She peeked out to stare at his peacefully sleeping face, her finger traced his tattoo. The color in his face faded and grew pale. Erza let out a sigh, and remembered the words he told her.

''Stay strong, for everyone.'' She repeated to herself, finally standing to her feet. ''I will... stay strong.'' Determination filled her eyes once again, she requiped two swords into her hand and looked towards the other direction that led to Zeref.

I won't let your sacrifice go to waste...

Thank you, Jellal...
