I do not own FMA sadly.;.;
It was one of those days where no matter what you couldn't get out of the heat. The musky scent of the old Rockbell house drove him outside to get fresh air. Even though as soon as he walked out of the house he got blasted in the eyes with sunshine, the slight breeze slightly cooled him. He reached up and pulled off his black tank top and started his journey to the hill where Winry, Al, and him used to sit on days just like these as children.
With hands in his pockets, Edward could feel the tickling of the soft grass under his one bare foot. He shifted his golden eyes ahead of him and noticed a blonde head sitting up at the hill, as if she was waiting for him. He felt the warmth of the sun hit his back dead on and wondered if she felt it too.
When finally he made his way up, he plopped down beside her, but careful not to meet her gaze. She was wearing one of her summer dresses. It was white and looked soft against her slightly tan skin, it was just above her knee. She sighed and he glanced toward her. He watched intently as she picked at a blade of grass and pulled it out, slightly specks of dirt flying out and covering her foot.
"So when are you leaving again?" She said in a tiny whisper, he had to strain to hear her.
"Probably in a day or so, there was a rumor of the Philosophers Stone a couple towns south of here."
He heard rather than saw her fall down on the ground, her hands above her head and knees bent, her dress rode up to her thighs. He plopped down beside her but with his legs spread apart and his hands at his sides.
He knew she was crying. She always was. Never really loud, just slight shaking and a few sniffles.
"Winry," Edward said in a soothing voice. "You know I have to go, I made a-"
"I know Ed." She turned on her side and wrapped and arm around his bare waist. "I just miss you."
She buried her head into his shoulder and breathed him in, in truth, she actually had fallen in love with him. She couldn't tell him though, just not yet.
The sun wrapped around them then. Glistening on her blonde and his golden hair. Both their eyes closed in content peace. His hand slowly made to hers and gripped on to it. In truth, he had fallen in love with her also, but he couldn't tell her, not yet.
She wrapped her leg around his, wanting to get closer and not let go. She knew this wouldn't happen though. He would keep wandering and fighting, until he reached his ultimate goal. To return his brothers body. She could dream though, and hopefully that dream would sometime become true.
She breathed in the scent of the summer air and his body. It made her want to cry really, enjoying this moment with him, but knowing it would be gone soon and she would have to wait months for him again. She peeked an eye open at him and saw a slight smile on his face, she stored this moment in her head.
"Hey Ed" She said to him, he could feel her breath tickling his neck. He turned toward her now and wrapped his real arm around her waist, the dress was as soft as it looked.
"Yeah?" He opened his eyes a sliver to peek down at her.
"Don't you just love that smell?" He heard her breath in and did the same, he didn't smell anything set for her flowery scent.
"What smell Winry?"
"You know that smell," He gazed at her confusingly and lovingly at the same time. "The smell of sunshine."
