"John, you awake?
"Mmhuh," he answered sleepily.
"Do you believe in God?"
"What?"
"Do you believe in God, a higher power?"
"Well, considering that He answered my prayers and you're here with me,"–
"John, don't joke around, I'm serious. Do you believe in God?"
He sighed, and turned to look at her, "Yes, I believe in God. I've spent a lot of my life being angry with God, and you can't be angry with someone unless you believe He exists."
"Why were you angry at God?"
"That's between Him and me. Now go to sleep."
She was quiet a moment, "Are you still angry at Him?"
He sighed. "No, I finally figured out I was blaming the wrong guy."
