Title:- Imangine That
Summary:- GS and Nick Greg Friendship. A change in attitude gets two friends talking. Response to a previous Unbound challenge, one day I will get to 1000 words.
A/N:- I'm currently looking at NLP, visualisation and imagination. This kind of triggered this story. If only it was this easy. I was going to call this story Picture This but then realised I already have a story of that name! It's hell getting old, first thing to go is your ……..what was I saying?
"She's a wimp." Nick stated.
"I dare you to say that to her face." Greg laughed.
"Man, you know if I was tired of living I surely would." Nick grinned as he imagined Sara's reaction.
The two friends were sitting in the diner shooting the breeze between shift breaks. Greg had been telling Nick about an incident at a crime scene between Sara and Sophia.
Sophia was, as usual, talking to herself as she worked her way through the crime scene. Sara was trying to let the crime scene talk to her. She couldn't understand how Sophia could concentrate on the scene if she was constantly "wittering on".
Greg had seen Sara's frustration building and pulled her to one side. To be honest it was starting to drive him mad as well.
"Say something", he encouraged.
"About what?" she asked.
"The running commentary." He replied. "I know it's making you twitchy."
Sara looked down at the ground, avoiding eye contact.
"I can't."
"Sure you can, Sar. You don't normally hold back."
"I've promised Grissom that I'd be more tolerant about other peoples "quirks"," she sighed. "I can't afford another run in with Ecklie. I just have to concentrate, I'll be fine in a minute."
Greg watched as Sara closed her eyes, took a few deep breath and then smiled serenly at him.
Greg had let it rest there, but wanted to get Nicks opionion, which had led to the wimp comment.
"You know, Greg, Sara can get real fired up on occasion. Maybe it's a good thing she's trying to find a way to detach from stress. Maybe I should ask for some tips." Nick's smile held a trace of sadness. "Any way this cowboy, needs to report for duty. Cath will be watching the clock, and you need to get some shut eye."
"See you later, Nick. Have a good one" Greg watched his friend stride from the diner, quickly finished his coffee and headed for home and bed.
Across the city Sara sat ont the floor of Grissoms town house and quietly moaned in delight, as Grissom gently massaged her shoulders releasing the stress that a double shift worked with Sophia had caused.
"You would have been proud of me Gil. I stayed calm and focussed on how good this massage and being with you would be. After a few seconds she just became background noise." She smiled over her shoulder at Grissom, still not quite believing how relaxed he looked.
"I told you it would work. Visualisation is a powerful tool, Sara!" He remembered how as soon as he started to allow himself to picture Sara in his life, he was able to work towards making this a reality. Three weeks later he asked Sara to dinner and a month after that she had moved in.
"Yeah," she purred. "But reality is much better."
"Don't you agree." She asked as she stood up and led him into the bedroom.
Grissom gave his head a nod as he shut the door.
