defying gravity.

Once he's learned to fly and let go and stretch to smile at every shining star, he just can't stop. The pixie dust didn't stop at his skin. It went under, pumped into his blood, shone on in his heart like a smile, or a memory of one. The second star to the right, straight on until morning, and he breaks free and laughs as he flies up, up, up, and the world goes down, down, down.

"Everyone deserves the chance to fly," Peter says to Sora with a natural wink, Tinker Bell fluttering around his shoulder.

"Hey, kiss me goodbye," Tink says in pixie language, mockingly, her lips almost touching Sora's cheek before she shoots off into the starry horizon. Peter follows her like he's done it all his life, laughing.

"Wait up!" the older boy calls, not used to having nothing beneath his feet just yet.

Sora follows, slowly at first, but then with all his worries buried down somewhere else, and the Heartless skulking in the shadows he can't see, flying becomes easy, beautiful, everything he's ever wanted.

It's like everything it's supposed to be. It's smiles turned real, it's a summer that never ends, it's a freedom that stretches as far as the eye can see. It's flying high and forgetting that darkness is out to get him, or that the Heartless even exist, or that any of it exists.

But now that he can fly, something's changed within him. Something's not the same. And Sora feels like he's being let free and feeling sunlight on his skin and soaking life in, for all it's worth, as fast as he can. All this in a leap of faith and trust and pixie dust, a glide off the clock-tower, the great bells like a beat of his own heart.

Nobody's ever gonna bring me down, he thinks, preferring to float than to sit, looking out at a strange, marvelous city called London. It's old-fashioned and warm, with pretty pastries in the shops and children all tucked away after bedtime stories. There aren't any Heartless, there isn't anything to fear, here in the city where Sora can fly.

And for a while, he can relax, breathe deep, take a chance to break away from all his worries and let his hopes and paper dreams carry him.

He's invincible and unstoppable, like the hero he always wanted to be.

Because now he can defy gravity.

end.

Why yes, that is just about the shortest thing ever. Short and sweet, that's how Sora and I best get along. (& this makes me worry about that epical thing I have planned for Somewhere In The Future. Ohnoes.)

This was trying to mention Heartless for the challenge element. 'cause they're scary, you know it.

Especially those Invisible things. They'd freakin' pop up outta nowhere & give me heart attacks on my 3 AM "gotta-beat-this-damn-level!" marathons.

Hope you liked it, guys! & obviously, much credit is given to "Defying Gravity" from the musical Wicked, which is amazing and pwns my soul.

I AM SO EASILY PWNED. XD

Review if you wish.

& off I go, into the night.
