Fear is what you do not realize…

Keeping a secret is a hard thing to do. Especially when you're Saellyn. Saellyn was an ordinary girl, only looking about 18 years of age, but tonight is her birthday. Oh what a fun birthday she'll have.

Saellyn had not known the light of day for two years. Trapped in a dark pit of a room, strapped onto a wooden planked bed. If someone saw her now they could almost reel back in horror. She was not a beautiful, her black hair was ragged and dull, and her grey eyes were almost lifeless. Saellyn could have been considered pretty before she was captured and caged like an animal. She used to be a strong girl, but now her form was skinny as a rail, her arms were like toothpicks, looking as if they could snap with even the slightest of pressure. You might be wondering why she was here, and who had done this to her.

"Why good morning," Said the rasping voice. Speak of the devil. Saellyn turned her head painfully and glared at the silhouette in the fire light.

"Durza," She coughed out.

"Yes it's me; would you care to cooperate now?" Asked the Shade. Saellyn could not bear this longer, but she would not help Galbatorix.

"No," She said in a whisper.

"Wrong answer," Durza hissed and smirked as her let his nails softly rake the thin flesh of her shoulder. Crying out in pain Saellyn could feel the poison in his nails spread even with the lightest touch.

"My, my," Durza said to himself.

"Care to reconsider the previous statement?" He asked. Saellyn felt her tears fall and roll down her dirt covered cheeks. She didn't give an answer.

"Just tell us where you sent your egg," He said. Saellyn did not reply. Ally of the Varden, Saellyn had found a Dragon egg, hidden in the depths of the Spine, almost over the mountains. She had spirited it away with what little magic she had left, sent it to the elves. Her features were not human, and even as young as she looked, Saellyn was from the race of the people of the mountains. A secluded race most had never seen, but now only myths. The Defmera people were strong in spirit and magic, but had disappeared off the face of the world it had seemed. Until Saellyn. Defmera lived unnaturally long lives, usually dieing around their 1,000th year. Saellyn was still young, only sixty three years.

"No, you foul son of a bitch," Saellyn rasped out.

"Still have spirit I see, oh it is always so fun to break a Defmera," Durza said gleefully. Saellyn blinked and did not respond.

"You will tell me where you sent your Dragon Egg, or we shall kill you and have the dragon die as well," Durza said poising his hand to strike.

"You wouldn't…A Rider…is much to valuable…to kill…when it is…the last…of the Dragons," Saellyn wheezed out.

"Ah now, my time and patience is running thin, but you can think once more about the offer given to you," Durza said and opened the door.

Maybe I should accept it…

Maybe…NO! I cannot let another fall into the hands of Galbatorix!

But you would rather die?

I…I don't know…

"Oh and, Happy Birthday," Durza sneered. The door closed and Saellyn was left in darkness.

Short chapter I know, but I need inspiration! Saellyn will not be a Mary-Sue, trust me, I don't think I'll pair her with any real characters, maybe an original but not likely. Please review, It is greatly appreciated!
