Chapter 1: A Beautiful Family

The hospital room was bright and loud. The counters littered with a clutter of birthing equipment. It was time and there was no slowing it down.

"It'll be okay sweetspark. It'll be done real fast. We're right here." Sideswipe whispered holding the femmes hand. The doors flew open as the doctor came in. "Alright, let's get this started. I'm doctor Brightblade." The doctor introduced. "It's about time. She needs something for the pain." Sunstreaker growled.

"Nurse!" The doctor called out. A small nurse scurred in the room, she pulled over a cart and set up an energon drip into the femmes main energon line, next she pushed pain medication into the line, immediately calming the femme. "Is that better Dawnlight?" the doctor asked. Dawnlight nodded her head "yes" weakly. "Then let's get this started." the doctor continued.

Dawnlight opened her spark chamber slowly, as the same nurse brought in two sparkling protoforms, she brought two because it was assumed that the twins would father more twins and they wanted to be prepared in case the whole spark split. They were dark grey and had no gender until the spark is placed into the shell, modifying the body to the sparkling.

The doctor inspected her spark closely. He quickly identified the sparkling's spark, now splitting in two, whirling around their mothers spark frantically and ready to be released. The sparklings sparks looked unique, the blue hue radiated brightly with sparkles of gold and silver ghosting through the small orbs. The doctor carefully picked up one of the sparkling shells and held it close to Dawn's spark chamber. Everyone watched closely as the two smaller sparks began to pull away and drift back in as they circled around their mothers spark. As if they were deciding who would go first. The dance was beautiful and everyone watched in awe. It wasn't often that twins were sparked. The sparks both slowly began pulling further and further away from their mother.

The separation was always the most stressful part. Especially with split spark twins. The sparks could weaken from the separation causing one or both twins to die or their sparks to combine back together. It was a long process.

Finally, Sideswipe stood, staring down at a sparkling in awe and curiosity. The sparkling was so small in his arms and he had little helm fins like Sunstreaker. The sparkling stirred and powered up his optics, looking up at Sideswipe curiously. Sideswipe smiled down at him. "When's the other little guy getting here?" Sideswipe asked, looking up at the doctor. "Any klik now." Brightblade grumbled as he kept working to get the sparkling to separate. Sideswipe kneeled down and showed the small mech to Dawnlight. She smiled weakly and and stroked the sparklings right helm-fin softly. He cooed and chirped in response. Suddenly the sparkling stiffened and started looking around. He was making small clicks and chirps, as if calling for something. "He's calling for his brother." the nurse whispered with a smile. The second spark began detaching from his mother. His pulse was erratic and almost unstable. The spark fluttered weakly away from his mother's spark.

"Why is his spark doing that, that's not normal." Sunstreaker quickly pointed out.

"He's struggling with the separation. I've heard that occasionally when twins are sparked one will have a slight spark condition for the first few stellar cycles, as they adjust to life as a split spark. It's not too much to worry about, he could just be stubborn and scared to separate from his mother's spark." Brightblade answered as he scanned and studied the spark closely. "Come on little guy, you can do it..." the doctor trailed off.

Finally he quickly settled into the new spark chamber, spark beating quickly and irregularly. Looking down at the new sparkling protoform confused as it changed. "She?.." the doctor asked. "What?" Sunstreaker asked. "It's a femme. Not a mech. How interesting. I've never, in my life time seen a set of twins with one femme and one mech..." Brightblade said, handing off the small femme to Sunstreaker. Sunstreaker stood stunned, not prepared to be holding a sparkling. He looked down at her. She was smaller than her brother and had audial helm-horns like Sideswipe. She let out a few clicks and chirps in response to her brothers calls. Her optics powered up as she stared up at Sunstreaker. He stared back in awe. Her optics matched her brothers with the same iridescent sky blue color, with small silver and gold specks in them. She just seemed to glow. And Sunstreaker was in love. He stood staring down at her as his spark filled with a plethora of emotions. He wanted to protect her from everything and love her unconditionally. His daughter. His son. They became his whole world.

"Sunny?" Dawnlight called to him. "She's beautiful." Sunstreaker whispered. He turned and slowly handed the small femme to Dawnlight. "What are their designations?" the nurse asked. Dawnlight now held both sparklings in her arms as tears of happiness flowed down her cheeks.

"They're so beautiful." Sideswipe smiled. "They are." Sunstreaker agreed. "Chimera for the femme...and...Kallisto for the mech." Dawnlight spoke up. The twins smiled and nodded in agreement. The nurse nodded and typed the names into the data pad with their other medical information. "Look at us. A family." Sideswipe grinned. "A beautiful family." Dawnlight smiled back.

Five vorns went by and the sparklings began to grow, their amour growing in, revealing their colors. Their parents had been waiting anxiously to see if they would continue taking after their dads or would they take after their mom. Chimera's armor was white with iridescent turquoise accents, taking after her mother. Kallisto was midnight black with crimson red accents, the opposite of Sideswipe. Sunstreaker was a little disappointed neither of them took after him and came out his dazzling yellow/gold, but they were still just as beautiful. Their optics still sparkled fascinatingly catching the optics of any bots around them, earning compliments, mostly from young femmes expecting sparklings of their own. They were beautiful sparklings, of course their parents were very attractive as well. Some of the twins mech friends would make jokes about Chimera growing up and being a spark breaker of all the mechs. Sunstreaker and Sideswipe weren't fond of these jokes.

The young twins were doing well adjusting to life, even at the beginning of a war. They exchanged clicks and chirps in their own made up form of communication to each other. And hated being far away from one another. Sunstreaker and Sideswipe were very fond of the sparklings, not to pick favorites, but they seemed more protective of Chimera, something inside of them just told them to always keep an optic on her. She seemed to get tired quickly and have to rest before continuing to play. But the doctor insisted the twins were fine when they were sparked and the cycles after they were sparked. Kallisto seemed to notice this as well and never strayed too far away from her incase she got tired or ill.

Sunstreaker always kept them in audio range and would check in on them regularly while they played. Sideswipe loved playing with them, he would run around the room, with them on his back and shoulders, he would play with their toys with them. He even got them in on a prank on Sunstreaker one day.

Dawnlight loved the twins, now both sets, with all her spark. She loved her family. Her sparklings and her sparkmates. She loved coming home to be greeted by them, she loved rocking the sparklings to sleep at night, she loved making their energon bottles, she loved all of it.

However, as life tends to go, all good things must come to an end. The war was picking up pace and it was beginning to look like more Autobots were going to be needed. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker had already passed the Autobot training program with flying colors of course but they talked their commanding officer into letting them stay a little longer because they had sparklings on the way. So they stayed stationed on Cybertron and only reporting in for a few patrols and small jobs around head-quarters, they hardly saw any action. Dawnlight was a waitress at a small tavern, Sunstreaker continued painting on the side. So with their combined income from being soldiers, painting, and waitressing, they were making barely enough credits to live in a small house just outside of Iacon and provide for their younglings.

That all changed when new orders came in. Dawnlight cried for joors when the twins told her of their restationing to the Autobot base outside of Tarn, a high Decepticon activity city. Rumors had it that a high ranking Decepticon named Shockwave was set up in the heart of Tarn, but no 'bots ever made it far enough into the city to find out.

That night the sparklings were quiet and sat against the door to their room listening to their parents talk. "Our dads're leavin.." Kallisto said sadly. Chimera looked at her brother sadly and hugged him. "They'll be okay Kal. They were gladidators 'member? They're strong and smart." Chimera reassured her brother. Kallisto gave a sad smile followed with a "yeah.." They quickly scurred away from the door when they heard footsteps. A knock resounded in the room and Chimera and Kal pretendeqd to be playing with their toys when they granted the knocker entrance. Sideswipe opened the door and peered in the room, "What're you guys doing?" he asked as he and Sunstreaker walked into their room.

"Playing Autobots and Decetipcons." Chimera answered as she used her Optimus Prime action figure to strike down a Decepticon. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker shared a look. "We need to talk to you guys about something.." Sideswipe started slowly. Chimera and Kal looked at each other and slowly put their toys down. Sunstreaker kneeled down, Sideswipe followed next to him. Chimera stood up and hugged Sunstreaker and Sideswipe. "Be careful.." She whimpered softly as tears formed in her optics. Kal stood up and hugged them as well.

"Hey now, don't cry.." Sunstreaker cooed softly as he wiped the tears from Chimera's face. He hugged Chimera and she hugged him back. "You guys have ta go fight the Decetipcons now...we heard you talkin' to mommy.." Kal said sadly. "We do..but we're doing it to keep you guys safe. The Decepticons are bad and they want to hurt everyone here on Cybertron. So they need us to go stop them." Sideswipe explained. Chimera stood tracing the Autobot insignia on Sunstreakers chest with her finger. "What if you die.." Chimera whimpered looking up at Sunstreaker in the optics waiting for his honest answer. Sunstreaker stared back at her sadly before looking to the ground. His spark ached knowing they will most likely die in a battle sooner than later. And it hurt him knowing his sparklings are growing up in a war, with their dads being front-line warriors. Sunstreaker searched through his processor trying to find the right words to say, but Sideswipe spoke up instead. "We won't die. We're the toughest Autobots on Cyberton, and those Decepticons don't know what they're getting into." Sideswipe chimed in confidently with a wink. Chimera and Kallisto beamed, believing Sideswipes words entirely. Their dads are the best, strongest, and fastest Autobots around, and no Decepticon was going to stop them. Their dads were their idols. They wanted to grow up and be heroes just like them.

: Thanks Sides..: Sunstreaker trailed off in their twin bond.

:Don't worry Sunny, they'll be okay. They're strong and smart. They understand.: Sideswipe responded, sending his brother reassurance.

"Why don't we go out and get some energon and maybe some other goodies. Then we'll watch some movies and play some games tonight?" Dawnlight chimed in from the doorway. Chimera and Kal's faceplates lit up with excitement. "Yeah!" they cheered in unison.

"Put away your toys first." Sunstreaker told them. The younglings quickly gathered up all their toys off the floor and put them into the chest in the corner of their room.

Sunstreaker stood up, scooping Kallisto off the floor and onto his shoulders. Kal giggled and held on to Sunstreakers helm-fins. Chimera squealed excitedly and raced over, holding Sideswipes hand as they all left their home, locking the door behind leisurely walked down the sidewalk together, smiling and laughing at Sideswipes terrible jokes.

"You okay Chimera? Are you tired?" Sunstreaker asked looking down at her as she started to walk slower and become uninterested in the conversation. Kallisto let out a string of clicks and chirps directed at his sister. Chimera wrapped her arms across her chest, hugging herself as she answered her brother softly.

Dawnlight kneeled down in front of Chimera and placed her hand on her forehead checking to make sure she wasn't overheating. "Chimera, sweetie, what's wrong?" She asked her daughter worriedly. "I'm jus' tired." Chimera breathed out. "You shouldn't get tired so quickly from regular activities though sweetspark, if something is wrong you need to let us know." Sunstreaker said warily. "I'm Okay." She said confidently. Sideswipe slowly picked her up and she immediately curled close to his chest. Feeling the warmth of his frame and hearing the steady pulse of his spark. Dawnlight kissed the top of her helm and they continued on their way.

When they reached the bakery Chimera was feeling better. Her and Kallisto were picking out all the goodies they wanted. Oil cakes, energon pops, and sweet energon filled candies were their favorites. They gathered up their treats and Sunstreaker used the credits he earned from a recent painting to pay the mech behind the counter. Chimera and Kallisto held the bag with the goodies and looked up at Sideswipe pleadingly. Sides smirked and leaned down to whisper, "you guys want some candy, huh? I don't see why you can't have one piece now...For the walk home." He winked. Chi and Kal grinned. Kallisto picked out a small oil cake and was happily shoveling it all into his mouth. Chimera however wasn't sure what she wanted.

Sunstreaker picked her and the bag of goodies up. "Energon pops were always my favorite." Sunny smiled as he pulled one out of the bag. Chimera giggled and happily took the candy and began eating it. "Are you guys ready to head home?" Dawnlight asked carrying a large box full of energon that would last them a few cycles. "Let me carry that." Sideswipe said taking the box from Dawnlight. She smiled and kissed his cheek in thanks. She picked up Kallisto and rubbed their nose ridges together as he giggled. "Look at you. You're covered in oil cake." She frowned glancing at Sideswipe who smiled nervously.

"And why is Chimera eating an energon pop?!" She exclaimed. Chimera and Kal giggled. "They're fine, Dawnlight. We told them they could have one candy now." Sunstreaker smirked as he left the bakery carrying Chimera, heading home.

When they got home Sunstreaker pulled out his key to open the door, to find it unlocked. "I thought you locked the door, swipe?" Sunstreaker questioned looking at his brother. "I did?...didn't I?" Sideswipe responded warily. Chimera hugged Sunstreaker and watched as he opened the door slowly. "What if there's a Decetipcon in there, daddy?" She asked quietly. Sunstreaker held her a little tighter and unsubspaced his pistol. Sideswipe set the box of energon down and pulled out his pistol as well, taking the lead and walking in their house slowly. They slowly and carefully searched the house and found no one and nothing missing.

Sunny, Sides, and Dawn all sighed with relief. Sunstreaker kissed Chimera on the helm, set her on the couch and put away his pistol. Sideswipe brought in the energon and put the box on the dining room table. Kallisto and Chimera sat on the couch flipping through the tv channels as their parents were putting away the energon and candy in the cabinets.

Dawnlight sighed again and shakily sat down at the table. "What is it, Dawnlight?" Sideswipe asked worriedly. "What am I going to do while you two are gone? I'm no Autobot warrior…" She trailed off as tears formed in her optics. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker shared a look of worry.

"Don't worry mommy. You'll have me and Chi. We'll protect you." Kal said as he and his sister walked over and hugged their mother. Dawnlight smiled down at them, tears streaming down her face. "Oh yeah? You and Chimera are going to protect me?" She smiled putting them on her lap. "Of course mommy! We're gonna be strong Autobots. Just like daddy." Chimera reassured her mother. "Are you now?" Sideswipe asked with a smile. "I don't know Sides. Do you think they're tough enough?" Sunstreaker teased. Chimera and Kal shared a mischievous look before jumping at their dads. Chimera jumped on Sideswipe and Kal on Sunstreaker.

"Oh no! Help! She's too strong! I can't take her!" Sideswipe dramatically called out, falling to the ground as Chimera 'pinned' him down. "I'm going down Sides! Call for backup!" Sunny called out as he too went down. Sideswipe picked Chimera up and laid her on the ground, he made a gun with his hands and 'shot' at Kal. "Pewpewpewpew!" Sideswipe yelled out. Chimera leaped forward and tackled her brother off of Sunstreaker and they took cover behind a chair.

"Pew! Pew!" Kal and Chi yelled out 'shooting' back at their dads who were using the couch as cover. "Surrender 'Cons!" Kal yelled out as he dove and rolled behind another chair to hit them from a different angle. "Never, Autobots!" Sides and Sunny retaliated. Dawnlight giggled and watched them all run around the house shooting at each other. Chimera dodged Sunstreakers shots, jumped on the couch, grabbing a pillow she leapt through the air. Sideswipe grunted in surprise and actually fell to the ground as Chimera hit him with the pillow and landed on top of him. She sat on his chest and held the pillow up over her head. "Surrender!" she demanded. Sideswipe put his hands up in surrender. "We lost Sunny. They're too strong!" Sideswipe called out. Sunstreaker deflated in defeat and put his hands up in surrender as Kal pointed his hand gun at him.

"My heroes! You saved me!" Dawnlight swooned, picking up her sparklings and kissing them each on the cheek. They giggled. "It's all in a day's work. Jus doin our Autobot duty." Kal beamed, saluting. They all laughed, basking in their family moment. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker would miss this. Their sparklings and sparkmate. Their home they worked hard for. All of it. But they knew the Autobot's needed them. They had to go to protect what they loved.

"You better tell Optimus Prime in a few vorns he'll be getting some of the best warriors he'll ever see." Dawnlight teased. Chimera and Kal smirked proudly and fist bumped. Dawn put the sparklings down and grabbed their sippy cups, filling them with energon. "Here you go, warriors." She said, handing them the cups. Chimera and Kal took their cups and raced back over to the couch. Sideswipe tossed the pillow back on the couch and sauntered back into the dining room. Sunstreaker pulled out three cubes of high grade, handing one to his twin and the other to their sparkmate. "Why don't we just relax tonight. We're still here for a few more cycles. We'll go out tomorrow to see Crystal City, and just have a nice family day." Sideswipe smiled, kissing Dawnlight. She smiled as Sunstreaker kissed her cheek. "The sparklings would love that. Just...don't worry about me. You two should spend lots of time with them. They adore you." Dawnlight smiled, looking over at the twins watching cartoons and drinking their energon.

"We can't promise anything Dawnlight...but we will do our best to come back to you..back to them. The last thing we want is for them to grow up without us around because we died in a battle…" Sunstreaker trailed off. Dawnlight smiled and kissed him softly. "I know you'll do your best." She smiled.

"Hey you two, go shower and head to bed." Dawnlight instructed Chi and Kal as they tried to sneak behind their parents and get more candy. The twins groaned and pouted, "But mom.." Dawnlight faced them with a raised optic ridge. "Okay. Okay." they complied heading off to shower.

Chimera and Kal were in their shared room, finishing up waxing themselves, because Sunstreaker always stressed waxing after showering to protect their finish and strengthen their armor because they are still growing. There was a knock on the door. "Come in!" Kal called out. Their parents walked in. "All clean?" Dawnlight asked. "Yes mom." Kal said as he was putting away his wax. Chimera on the other hand grunted as she tried to reach the middle of her back. Looking in the mirror she huffed. Sunstreaker chuckled and took the towel from her. He rubbed the wax on her back and a few other spots she missed. Finishing with waxing her sensitive helm horns. She purred and giggled, "Thanks daddy."

"You're welcome, sweetspark." Sunstreaker smiled down at her. He set the towel on the shelf with her wax and helped her into bed next to her brother. Their bed was pushed up against the wall in the left corner of their room, and Chimera always slept on the side close to the wall. Sideswipe pulled the thermal blanket up over them and sat on the edge, Dawnlight was cleaning up some toys and organizing stuff in their room, watching as Sides and Sunny tucked in their sparklings. "We got a big day tomorrow. We're gonna see some cool places and do some super fun stuff." Sideswipe told them excitedly.

"You guys need to get some rest though, So you won't get tired too quickly." Sunstreaker added in, glancing at Chimera. Her faceplates went from excitement to embarrassment quickly as she realized he was directing that at her. "We just want you to be okay sweetie." Sideswipe said pulling her in for a hug. Kal smiled and joined in the hug, then Sunstreaker joined.

"I feel left out.." Dawnlight pretended to pout. They all giggled and pulled her into the hug as well. "We love you guys." Kal and Chimera said in unison. "And we love you two." Dawn replied kissing them each on the helm.

"Get some sleep now." Sunstreaker smiled fixing their blanket as they laid back down.

"We'll have so much fun tomorrow!" Sideswipe said excitingly.

"If you keep talking about it they'll never get to sleep, Sides." Dawnlight told him as she shooed them out of the room. Sides and Sunny stood in the doorway as Dawnlight adjusted the sparklings blanket some more. The twins curled up close to one another, slowly drifting into recharge. "Goodnight, my little warriors." Dawnlight whispered kissing them on the helm. She rose and headed for the door. Sunstreaker turned off the lights as the three of them left, Sideswipe closing the door, leaving just a small crack open.

They sat on the couch, flipping through the channels. Sideswipe grabbing more cubes of high grade. Dawnlight sat between them as they all relaxed.

In the sparklings room

Chimera scooted closer to her brother, and he pulled the blanket up closer to their helms.

:Kal..:

:Yes?..:

:Do you feel that?: Chimera stirred in their shared berth. Kal shifted uncomfortably.

:...yes…: Kal responded slowly.

The two laid still. Listening intently. The air in their room was heavy as if something bad was lurking in the dark. Chimera twitched a little under the blanket, she heard it. Kal wrapped his arm around his sister.

:Where?: Kal asked, both were too frightened and unsure about onlining their optics. Onlining their optics would produce light, and light was the last thing they wanted in the dark room. Chimera shifted some more next to her brother.

:In the far right corner of the room.: Chimera was sure of it. She could hear anything and Kal always trusted his sister and her instincts. Anxiety pulsed through their bond steadily. They sat waiting stiff and scared. Chimera twitched again, there was a hitch in the soft hum and whirls from the corner of the room. Yes, she was sure, someone was inside their room.

:What do we do, Kal?: Chimera asked frantically. Her spark rate increased dramatically, Kal could do little to soothe his sister as his spark was doing the same. Kal hugged his sister tighter. He didn't know what to do. He was scared.

:On three, we move. Make a run for the door.: Kal instructed. Together they silently counted to three in their bond. When they got to three, adrenaline burst through their systems as they flew out of their berth for the door. Kallisto grabbed the doorknob and flung the door open as he sprinted down the hall.

"DAD!" He yelled out frantically. He tripped over his own pedes when a loud scream echoed in his audios.

"HELP ME! NO! KAL! DADDY! MOMMY! PLEASE NO!" Chimera screamed frantically. Kal turned around to see his sister clinging to the door frame as a large frame with red optics stood behind her pulling her. He tried to get to his pedes but was knocked over by a yellow and red blur. White arms wrapped around him and pulled him close, dragging him back to the living room as he kicked and screamed. "CHIMERA! CHIMERA!" He thrashed around in his mother's arms. She sobbed hugging him close and was watching as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were trying to open the now locked bedroom door.

"Chimera! Open the door!" Sunstreaker yelled out frantically.

Behind the locked door Chimera kicked and punched at the mech furiously. She landed a hard kick to his jaw, causing him to drop her to the floor. He growled lowly and menacingly. She scurried across the room. Her intakes hitched as she choked down a sob. The mech slowly advanced towards her. She screamed and grabbed the edges of the bookshelf, pulling with all her strength. The mech lunged for her, but she was an astrosecond faster than him and dove out of the path of the falling bookshelf. The bookshelf toppled down on top of him. She sat in the corner. Her spark was racing painfully fast. The door flew off its hinges and across the room. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker raced in, blasters out and ready to fire. Chimera trembled in the corner, the mech was laid out on the ground under the bookshelf. He stirred and growled again. Sideswipe lunged forward, throwing the bookshelf off of him. He grabbed him by his chest plate and punched him in the face, hard and repeatedly. Energon began coating his fist as he kept punching. Chimera, sobbing, sunk to the floor, hugging her knees to her chest. Sunstreaker stepped towards Sideswipe.

"Sideswipe, that's enough." Sunstreaker growled. Sideswipe, however, did not listen. His optics burned with rage as he kept punching. Dawnlight ran in, holding Kal. A few Autobots behind her because she had called for help. "Stand down soldier!" An Autobot yelled out to Sideswipe. Chimera sobbed louder and covered her optics, shutting off her audios. Sunstreaker growled and tackled Sideswipe to the ground. Sideswipe snarled viciously as Sunstreaker pinned him on his stomach, his knee in his back and arms held down. "Stop Sideswipe! Look at our daughter!" Sunstreaker yelled. He grabbed his twins helm and turned it to look at Chimera in the corner. She she lifted her helm from her hands and looked at them, fear and pain in her optics. The Autobots put stasis cuffs on the unconscious mech. Sideswipe struggled against Sunstreakers grasp. Sunstreaker slowly let him go. Sideswipe sat up looking at Chimera sadly, "Chi…" He said slowly. She whimpered and watched as the other Autobots, picked up the mech and carried him out. She whimpered and looked up at Sideswipe and Sunstreaker.

She mumbled clicks and chirps at Kallisto who was in their mothers arms. A medic walked in and stood next to the twins, he looked at them warily. "May I approach her and check for injuries?" He asked with concern in his optics. Sideswipe sat staring at his energon stained hand. Sunstreaker nodded once and slowly walked over to Chimera. She choked out another sob and and held her arms up, asking for Sunny to pick her up. He gave her a sad smile and picked her up. She clung to him tightly as she sobbed. "Why don't we go outside and get some air." The medic asked Chimera. She looked at him warily and he gave her a soft smile. He gave off a wonderfully friendly vibe, Chimera nodded her head in agreement. Sunstreaker carried her outside and sat down on the curb of the street with Chi in his lap. The medic knelt down and pulled out some tools. Chimera slowly turned to face him.

"Hi there, What's your designation? I'm First Aid." The young mech answered. He smiled at Chimera and sat on his knees waiting for her to relax. She choked down a few sniffles before replying softly, "I'm...Chimera.."

"It's lovely to meet you Chimera. Would it be alright if I just checked you over for any injuries? Does anything hurt the most? " First Aid asked as he held up his scanner. "I see you have a few dents and cuts."

Chimera shifted a little on Sunstreakers lap. "My knee hurts…" she whimpered pointing to her left knee. "I see, well i'll just scan you for any other injuries and to pull up everything about you medically. Then we'll get your knee all patched up." He smiled at her. Chimera smiled and nodded.

Sunstreaker stroked her helm and back softly while First Aid began working. "You know Chimera...you were very brave in there tonight. You used your surroundings and acted quickly. You showed some real Autobot initiative." First Aid smirked glancing at Chimera and Sunstreaker. Chimera smiled and giggled. Kal raced over and hugged Chimera tightly. They began frantically talking to each other in their own sparkling language. First Aid watched them curiously. "Twins?" He asked with his helm tilted to the side slightly. "Yes. Is she alright?" Sunstreaker asked with concern.

First Aid finished applying some bandages around Chimera's knee and smiled at them, "She will be fine. Just some scratches and dents. And a little shaken up. But she should be okay."

"Thank you." Chimera hugged First Aid. He smiled and hugged her back, "You're very welcome."

Dawnlight picked up Chimera and hugged her tightly, Chi hugging her back. "I'm alright mommy." She mumbled.

"I think it would be best if you and your family stayed at the Iacon Base tonight." Autobot Flareup said to Sunstreaker. He nodded in agreement and walked over to Sideswipe who was sitting on the curb a ways away from everyone. The Decepticons energon washed off his hands. Sunstreaker sat down next to him silently.

"They said the Decepticon has a cloaking ability. So he was invisible the whole time. Said they found files with his mission to kill us before we could head out into battle." Sideswipe said softly. "Yeah, we're dangerous mechs. Megatron knows what we're capable of so i'm sure he's wanted our heads on his wall since we joined the Autobots." Sunstreaker answered.

"She's terrified of me…I saw it in her optics...I haven't lost control like that since the Pits…" Sideswipe whispered sadly. "I think she was terrified of the situation Sides. There was a Decepticon trying to kill her. Give her time to calm down." Sunstreaker pulsed reassurance and love to his twin. Sideswipe nodded warily and they rose to their feet heading over to the transport Bot waiting to escort them to the base.

Dawnlight and the sparklings were sitting inside waiting to leave. The sparklings were in a seat next to her, hugging each other and deep in recharge. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker sat down across from them. Dawnlight leaned forward and laid her hand on Sideswipes leg, "She's not scared of you Sides, she loves you with all her spark. She was scared of what happened. They're just sparklings. Everything was happening so fast and then the adrenaline was gone and the fear kicked back in."

Sideswipe gave her a sad smile and a nod. "I wish they weren't growing up at the start of a war. Our sparkling daughter shouldn't have to throw a bookshelf on top of an assassin, who was there to kill us. They don't deserve this life...full of fear and violence. We went through that growing up in Kaon. It's not how I want them to grow up...fighting for survival. They shouldn't step into adulthood with the death of others on their hands. When I imagined our family when we bonded with you, I pictured us doing well, and our sparklings having anything they wanted. They would be raised to be respectful but still know their worth. I wanted them to have no resemblance to our childhood at all. But that doesn't seem likely." Sideswipe's optimistic cheerful personality was fading, he was spiraling into the depth of depression, Sunstreaker following.

Dawnlight sat there silently looking at Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. She was at a loss for words.

"It's just hard feeling like everything we've worked hard for and worked hard to prevent was for nothing. This war is starting so they're growing up surrounded by violence anyways. We can never catch a break and have good things come our way. It's just one bad thing after another." Sunstreaker continued. Dawnlight felt them slipping in their bond. Walls were going up as everything was setting in. The Decepticons tried to kill their family. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were leaving in a few cycles and could possibly never return. This was real and suddenly Dawnlight felt she didn't want to be a part of it anymore...
