A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING

She has come to his side thousands of times ever since they started working together, but never did he say thank you. Not even once.

She wonders why she longs to hear those two precious words from him. They have been working together for more than a decade now and she has adjusted to his lack of manners (but sometimes she has to admit that he's quite charming when he tries to be decent.) He's not really a fan of the spoken word. She thought, but then again, maybe someday, she will hear the glorious words of thanks from the Haymitch Abernathy. Who knows?

She sets her other thoughts aside as she continues to scan through the schedule she has prepared for the next day. Katniss and Peeta broke District Twelve's previous record – they have been alive for more than two – fifths of the Games. They were hanging on. She's proud for the two of them, and she's sure that Haymitch is too, even though he doesn't really show it. Okay so I need to be up before 7:00. Bath. Then make-up for two hours. Breakfast with Portia at –

"Well, what do we have here." She said to herself, as her eyes caught a glimpse of the yellow slip of paper. "Maybe it just got caught up in all of thi-"

The kids wouldn't get the sponsors they needed if it weren't for you, so thank you.

And yes, even though you always have pink things on your face and your clothes, I know you're favourite color is yellow.

A slight chuckle escaped her lips. There she was, moments ago, thinking that maybe someday he will say thank you, unaware that today was the day. And there she is now, stripped of all her make-up and her extravagant glittery outfit, staring at Haymitch's thank-you note written on a yellow post-it. She hasn't made up her mind on his extra comments, but then again, it's an improvement from the drunk pain in the ass he usually is.

A/N – That's a fluffy break from all the drama/angst that's been happening in this archive recently. I plan on posting 10 fics for this, but I am open for your suggestions.
