AN:/ A Harry/Draco fanfic that's kind of depressing! Based on a fantastic poem by Housman which I've put at the end :) I stole a couple of lines and shamelessly altered them. I hope you like it and, please, review!/
The early morning light filtered through the barn and lit on the two boys asleep on the golden hay. They were hardly boys now; 16 and 17 and lovers. The night had been secretive, slow and full of anger, sadness and then love; unexpected and sudden.
They awoke at the same time, lying apart now and they looked at one another in the soft light across the hay. No words were said, no smiles exchanged; just an intense sadness and pain that caused tears to fill their eyes and so they looked away, into the dawn of a day that meant their separation once more.
Neither was with the person they loved, or, at least, so it had been, all those angry times before. Now it had changed, now it was love but now it was pain for how on earth could Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived and the Malfoy heir, ever be together and how could they be in love?
And so they looked at one another in the happy barn of hay, they looked at one another and then they looked away.
Here's the poem:
In the morning, in the morning,
In the happy field of hay,
Oh they looked at one another
By the light of day.
In the blue and silver morning
On the haycock as they lay,
Oh they looked at one another
And they looked away.
Yes, I know the fic took place in a barn with golden light but, hey, artistic license? :)
