A Lethal Concerto
It was one of her favorite lullabies. Simon used to sing it to her all the time. A stream and a dream.
Row, row, row your boat
River dances and twirls. Handel in her brain. Her hands move like their holding oars, she holds an axe and rapier instead. Oars lead to shore. Blades lead to safety. She protects and dances. Kills and twirls.
Gently down the stream
Blue hands kill. Bad man saves. Reavers rape. River reaps. Collecting butterflies and raging souls. Paxlion Hydrochlorate. Pax Romana. Pax. Peace in the Latin. Peace that kills. Reaver's made by peace, murder. Serenity made by fire, cradles. River made by horror, protects.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Pirouette, rond de jambe, port de bras, arabesque, attitude and pas de basque, petit jete with a port de bras, fouette, attitude and ecarte. Third position. Music ends.
Spin, kick, stab, backwards kick, pause and strike, jump kick landing on other leg with arms extended, stab and stab, duck and kick, pause, wait and left leg extends while right arm strikes. Arms at side and waist, feet turned out, one in front of the other locked together, puzzle pieces. Last one dead.
She loves to dance.
Life is but a dream
They are safe. For now. But she can tell. More will come. And she will be ready to dance again. Mozart will be next and maybe the captain will let her use a gun.
It's still her favorite lullaby.
