Fishy Problems

Prompt au: yes I am a vet and yes I cure animals but this goldfish is just beyond saving oh no no nO NOW YOU LOOK LIKE YOUR'RE ABOUT TO CRY I'LL FIX HIM I SWEAR.

ANNABETH had known Percy Jackson when they were both coincidently in the same high school. He was typically the troublemaker one. His eyes lit up whenever he was about to turn the class into a ruckus. He had shaved his hair into an undercut and with his motorcycle (he did work on it himself!) he looked like Hades had come to ride you home. His tattoos and his mean streak; his attitude and his sneer were enough to keep Annabeth want to stay a safe distance away from him.

But apparently, her luck wasn't so good (when was it ever?).

That particular day wasn't all that good for her. She was already on the verge of losing her job at the small veterinary clinic run by some plump old man. She was under a lot of stress between paying her bills and preparing for an upcoming entrance exam. All in all, she was ready to quit everything and go hibernate somewhere in Alaska.

Since that wasn't an option, she just got up early and went to work at the clinic.

Her boss wasn't really a person who trusted Annabeth(not after she just endangered his clinic, his whole life's work) but it an emergency, so he had to give Annabeth a good long lecture and left her to take care of his safe haven.

It wasn't a really busy morning; she just patched up a cute white Labrador and a teeny little pug, and was going through her course material, occasionally going through social network platforms.

Then the doorbell rang and in came the hottest thing ever on two legs. That is until she saw his face (no he was still hot it was just that she recognised him.) He looked a lot different than he had seven years ago, and so much cuter.

Then she looked at his hands and found the big bowl.

"Help him," Percy Jackson all but demanded. Annabeth wrinkled her nose. Still downright arrogant.

"I can't help it!" said Annabeth looking inside the bowl at the dead goldfish.

"His name is Nemo, and if you can't help him then why are you at this veterinary clinic?" He shouted.

"Percy, I am vet, and yes I cure animals, but this goldfish is just beyond saving."

"Why can't you save Nemo then, Annabeth?"

Annabeth started to reply in her standard no-caring way but she went like oh no no nO NOW YOU LOOK LIKE YOUR'RE ABOUT TO CRY I'LL FIX HIM I SWEAR. And Percy looked so cute with bottom lip jutted out a bit and eyes doing the best puppy dog impression she had ever seen. It was such an adorable scene that she almost forgot about the goldfish. She patted his back and genuinely felt sorry for him.

"He dead isn't he? Nemo's not go swimming around anymore." At first it seemed he would get himself together, but one tear slipped out and then another hundred. He was completely sobbing all over her lab coat and she didn't find herself caring. She patted his head and told him Nemo would go to fish heaven. Percy seemed to want to believe that stuff so hugged him tightly.

It seemed to be an hour before he finally got up and gathered his companion, muttering something about fish rights and burial. At the door, he looked back at her and said, "Keep in touch."

Annabeth kind of felt poignant but kind of giddy too.

A/N: I just absolutely love weird!Percy. he's so cute and adorable and makes me go squishy.

Love Percy and review.
