Author's Notes: This story is based off an AU graphic I made on Tumblr (which you can find here: .com/post/23019609773/au-fritters-fritters-as-batman-and-harley). Reviews are always kind as I very much plan to continue this story for all those that are interested in reading it.
Prologue.
Ending up at as Gotham's dark knight had never been Finn Hudson's plan, but there were somethings that were fate. The people needed a hero, and he was that for them - a man in a mask and a cape who protected them better than the cops could.
So when the Joker had managed to cause another accident tonight, he was there fighting his way to catching his enemy. That's when the snag in the plan happened. A whirl of blonde hair and muscle had skillfully knocked him to the ground. He tussled with the woman finally pushing her far enough away from her.
Of course, it wasn't that easy. She'd swiftly pulled a gun on him, pulling the trigger to make one of those comical flags with "Bang!" written on it pop out of the barrel.
"Stop what you're doing. I don't want to hurt a girl," he said gruffily. That's when he started to see the woman startle.
"I know who you really are," she whispered softly, slowly dropping her weapon. "Finn…" Even with the clown makeup smeared all over her face, he could start to see her clearly now.
"Brittany? What the hell are you doing with a guy like that?" Not her. Not on that side of crime. He couldn't see the sweet little cheerleader he knew in high school harming people - killing them with a psycho like the Joker.
"Surviving." It was the only answer she could give him before running off into the building. She couldn't see him like this - she couldn't let anyone know who he really was. For the first time in a long time, Finn Hudson was confused beyond belief. Brittany Pierce had a lot more than a secret to keep now; she had the power to keep him alive or get him killed. His true identity is what more than a few of his enemies wanted.
He took off back to the Bat Mobile and sped home. He'd deal with her boss later, but now he needed to figure out exactly what had gone wrong with high school crush in the years since he'd seen her last.
