The Doctor stared at Clara with gentle wonder. "You saved me. Again."

"That's what I do, in'it?" she replied, trying to keep her tone light as she ducked her head and blushed.

He caught her firmly in his arms. "No, Clara. You saved me from making the biggest mistake of my lives. You saved my people. You saved my world. How can I ever repay that?"

After a moment, Clara looked up at him, tracing her fingers over his face. "You stop looking back and regretting and forgetting. You look forward, and you…live."

"Is that all?" he asked.

"You find that painting. You find your way home. And…"

"And what?" he asked, tipping up her chin with gentle fingers.

"Take me with you?"

He pulled her into a ferocious embrace. "How is that even a question? I'd be lost without you, Clara, in so many ways."

She looked up at him, mischief twinkling in her eyes. "So, since it seems that I've rescued you, Chinboy…show me the stars?"

"Cheeky."

"That's why you like me."

"One of very many reasons, Clara Oswald," he assured her.
