I Stand Alone

Like every tree, stands on its own.

Reaching for the sky I stand alone.

I share my world, with no one else.

All by myself, I stand alone.

Howl shunned her, moving past her old figure as he stood in the center of the kitchen area. That flame demon Calcifer, held in place on the brim of the metal shovel grasped by Howl's strong hand. Sophie's brown eyes watched in disbelief as the junk heap castle shook abruptly. The castle moved at a quick pace, Sophie moving a little to the left as the castle leaned. Howl placed Calcifer back into the fireplace as the castle kept moving. Turning to Sophie, he scowled. "I do wish you would stop tormenting my friend. You're a mere cleaning lady here in this castle."

I know the sound of each rock and stone.

I embrace what others fear.

You're not to roam in this forgotten place.

Just the likes of me are welcomed here.

Everything breathes, and I know each breath.

For some it means life, for others its death.

It's perfectly balanced, perfectly planned.

More than enough, for this man.

Like every tree, stands on its own.

Reaching for the sky I stand alone.

I share my world, with no one else.

All by myself, I stand alone.

Sophie followed him angrily up those rickety old stairs. Each one cracking beneath her feet as with every step she became younger. "I've had just about enough childish attitude, I don't have to be here you know." She scowled.

I've seen your world, with these very eyes.

Don't come any closer, don't even try.

I've felt all the pain, and heard all the lies.

But in my world there's no compromise.

Like every tree, stands on its own.

Reaching for the sky I stand alone.

I share my world, with no one else.

All by myself, I stand alone.

All by myself, I stand alone.

Howl stopped and turned around to look at her. Sophie stood her ground firmly, clenching her fists at her sides. "Well?" She spoke, waiting to hear what kind of response Howl could possibly think of. After a brief moment of akward silence between the two of them. Howl frowned faultly. "I do know. . .but," He stopped, taking her hand. "I enjoy having you here."

All by myself. . .

I stand alone.

(Authors Notes: I know it's not very great. I am still learning. So, for now, most of my stories will be music parody related. Reveiws and advice is greatly appreciated. All characters in the story were from Howls Moving Castle by Hayano Miyazaki and the song was "I stand alone" by Brian White from Warner Bros. Movie "Quest for Camelot.".)
