This is a request. I'm not sure about it myself so concrit is welcome! =^-^= Enjoy!

Ginny glanced sidelong at the only other person in detention with her. Snape was punishing them both for a recent incident involving a flesh-eating slug (which, to be fair, was supposed to be completely dead) and a Ravenclaw boy (who, to be fair, was a smug git). Now he was out of the room dealing with some noisy first-years and they were alone together for the first time in months.

The other girl had written out 'I must not harm other students' about a dozen times in the time it had taken Ginny to write a hundred, but her paper was covered in the most fascinating drawings: creatures with slugs coming out of their fanged mouths; wings that had no bodies but were joined in the middle by rainbows of light; even what looked like a bull with a bowler hat for a head. As Ginny watched some of the creatures turned to look at her. An eyeball waved at her with its single clawed hand.

"Do you like them?" asked Luna, making Ginny jump.

"Um, yes," she replied, her mouth suddenly dry.

"They distract us from the nightmares we face in the real world," Luna went on mildly. "Imaginary beasts help us laugh at our fears when it becomes too hard to face the monsters in our own lives."

Ginny paused. "That's… that's true," she smiled.

"Like Blurbeaters," said Luna happily. "Have you written your three hundred lines yet?"

"Not nearly," Ginny sighed. "I'm going to be here all night."

"Never mind. At least we'll be here together."

"Yeah," Ginny grinned. She tried to concentrate on the paper in front of her but her mind kept wandering towards the girl sitting next to her. Going over every detail in her head – the tight blonde curls, the calm, intelligent eyes that would outshine the most beautiful stones, the curve of her neck, erect and slender as that of a swan… Luna seemed to be unconsciously tempting her, just by being there. How could they be so close and yet so distant from one another? Soon Ginny could not bear it any more. Glancing behind her at the door, she leaned towards the other girl.

Surprised, Luna turned to face Ginny, who placed a hand on either side of her face. Luna's heart began to race as Ginny gently brushed her hair away. Their lips touched, ever so lightly, and Luna closed her eyes. Suddenly filled with a blazing desire, the redhead pulled her closer and kissed her again. Tentatively Luna wrapped her arms around Ginny's shoulders as her lips explored every part of the other girl's face, kissing her cheeks, her eyelids, her forehead. Ginny sighed happily. Never before had she felt so close to heaven.

Suddenly approaching footsteps alerted them to Snape's return. Hastily stealing one last kiss, Ginny disentangled herself from Luna's arms and tried to make it look like she was concentrating on completing her detention. Five minutes later she glanced at Luna's paper; a new drawing had appeared. It showed two angels – or was it one? It was hard to tell, so enfolded was each in the limbs and wings of the other. For a moment they caught each other's eyes and smiled.
