Eyeballs. They were squishy. "Hey, Finn! You know what I just thought of?"
"What, Jake?"
"Since those strawberry demons were made of strawberry jam, do you think strawberry demon eyeball jam would be good with peanut butter?"
Finn cringed. "That's disguzballs, man. Besides, Peebs needs these strawberry demon eyeballs for science. She's probably going to make a potion that gives people dog powers."
"Aww, man! They smell really good. What would you want with dog powers, anyway?"
Finn shrugged. The duo walked into the Candy Castle. Princess Bubblegum was working in her lab. She swished a green liquid around in a beaker, then set it carefully on top of a torch. "Hello, Finn. Hey, Jake. Did you gather my strawberry demon eyeballs?"
"Yeah! Here you go." Finn handed the dripping sack to Bubblegum. She opened the sack and looked inside.
"Perfect! And now…" She dumped the contents of the sack into the beaker. The container released a puff of smoke. An interesting smell filled the room. At first, it smelled like chicken and dumpling pie, then like the tailpipe of an ice cream truck, and then a balloon-flavored soda. Finally, the concoction stopped bubbling. Bubblegum removed the beaker from the flame and stirred the liquid. It congealed into a deep, red jelly. She spread the jelly onto three slices of toast, spread peanut butter on three more, and put them together into sandwiches.
"All done!" She handed a sandwich to each of her friends. "Homemade strawberry demon eyeball jam sammiches! It's a traditional Candy Kingdom delicacy. Thanks for gathering those eyeballs for me. I haven't had this since I was a kid!"
"Oh boy!" Jake swallowed his sandwich in a single bite.
"Oh," Finn said, holding his sandwich away from him. "Thanks, PB…"
