In a land far, far away lies the kingdom of Fiore. A small peaceful nation of 17 million and a place filled with magic. Found in every home, bought and sold in every market place. For most magic is merely a tool, a mundane part of everyday life. For some however, magic is an art and they've devoted their lives to its practice. These are the wizards.
Amongst these wizards lie the legends of heroes and valiant acts of bravery. These legends include the tales of wizards like Iron Rock Jura of the 10 Wizard Saints from Lamia Scale, The Twin Dragon Slayers Sting and Rouge from Saber Tooth, and who can forget Titania, The She Devil, and Laxus of Fairy Tail. Legendary wizards exist all across Fiore and have been present for as long as the existence of magic itself.
But not all legends are certain, for some are considered myths; like the tales of Dragons and Fairies and even the Dark Wizard Zeref. Myths have existed since the beginning of times and have been mysteries and stories told time and time again. There is a story in particular that dwindles between the line of myth and legend; this is the story of the Spirit Knights.
All across the kingdom of Fiore people speak of a band of four wizards who hold a scared form of magic, that of the Elemental Spirits. There hasn't been any real record of Spirit Wizards since the dark ages. It is said that the magic was considered a blessing and that the spirits themselves chose the wizards that wield it.
Before continuing it should be explain whom these spirits are. There is the Phoenix Spirit of Fire, the Serpent Spirit of Water, the Golem Spirit of Earth and the Griffin Spirit of Air. The wizards these Spirit choose as their wielders have a bond to the nature of their element. Their connection is different than usual element wizards; it's stronger and more intuitive. Their magic isn't just that of a wielder but also that of a holder for they control the element itself due to the connection they have.
They are the embodiments of their spirits and some even consider them the protectors of their elements. Spirits Magic is sacred and mysterious and considered as a holy blessing in itself.
All of this is considered just myth and stories though, for no one in centuries has successfully recorded or claimed these powers, but that doesn't mean they haven't been seen. All throughout the kingdom people have spoken of valiant wizards with incredible powers who selflessly fight against darkness. People say that if you are lucky enough to be near them when they show their magic, you can feel a warmth that touches your very soul. They say that the warmth feels like a connection to the world itself and a purity that completely consumes you.
The Elders and Chiefs of villages that have seen them have declared their magic as that of the essence of Earthland, and deemed them the protectors. They say that the named Spirit Knights are the blessed ones, chosen by the Spirits, the creators.
They are said to have been chosen to protect the people from the darkness that try to plague their world, to keep the light shining, to give hope to the people they protect and to keep Earthland safe for their eternity. They are heroes and legends but will be forever written off as myths. They are the Spirit Knights.
