Blaze sighed as she gazed at the flickering flames of the city, slowly being eaten away by Iblis' power. Yet she wasn't really gazing at the city, her mind too focused on a confusing emotion that she can't seem to shake. Love. A word with many meanings. You feel love when you think of your family. You feel it when you think of your pets. But what do you when you find yourself loving someone else. Someone not of your family or a pet.
Love was like smoke. It comes unexpectedly, and try as you might, you can never truly get rid of it. Somehow, someway, it will find its way back to you. Blaze wasn't sure if she wanted fall into the smoke or find fresh air.
Silver was like smoke. Always within her grasp, yet always just out of reach. He drifted into her life and, despite her best efforts at first, never completely drifted back out. She didn't want him to leave anymore. She didn't know what she'd do if he did. So now she chases smoke, making it is always only barely out of her reach.
If someone had told her that she would fall in love with Silver, Blaze would have written it off as a simple joke. There was no way she could ever love that naive fool. He was too innocent, believing that the world can be saved and that everyone can be good, where she doubted that they would ever save this place, and that she knew personally how bad some people can be. So why was she here, helping him, protecting him? Why was she risking her life every day just to fulfill his dreams? It didn't make sense, Blaze has always been and always will be a loner through and through. Yet each day she continually teams up with Silver to try to beat Iblis.
If someone had told her that she would risk her life to fight for his future, she would have replied that she didn't care about anyone else's future but her own. She did only what she needed to survive. She would never willingly risk life and limb for someone else's hopes, never go out of her way to bring a smile to someone else's face. Yet every day was a blessing if Silver smiled that day, even more so if it was because of Blaze. And with Silver, hope was always something that you could count on him having. Blaze often found herself hoping that things would be alright, hoping that a brighter future could really be possible.
Ask Blaze to pinpoint the exact moment when it stopped being just Blaze, and started being Blaze and Silver. She couldn't tell you when it happened, only that she never wanted to go back to just Blaze. For her, just Blaze was a darker time that she'd rather forget, and Silver and Blaze was her future now. Now, when she started looking for the good in people. Now, when she was beginning to believe that their world could be saved. Because Silver was her purpose, and fighting alongside him was her dream.
She knew that she loved Silver. She also knew that she would never tell him. Maybe one day, when the world was safer and she was wiser, she would tell him how she felt. Until that day, Blaze was than happy to just remain by his side.
"Hey Blaze, there you are! I've been looking all over for you." Blaze turned to look at Silver approaching her. He halted right in front of her.
"I've been here all along Silver. What do you need?" At that Silver grinned sheepishly and clasped his hands together to keep from fidgeting.
"Well, there's a section on the east side that needs our help. Now I know you don't like helping them, but..."
"It's fine Silver. Let's just go." Blaze smiled softly at Silver, signifying that she wasn't mad. Silver's face lit up in delight as turned and hurried to help. Blaze just watched Silver for awhile before shooting off after him. Yes, she was right where she wanted to be.
