2017 edit: Okay, SO! I'm working on rewriting the chapters that I'm not too satisfied on. ...the first few being an example. I've rewritten the first chapter and the second chapter so far! Let's see how upgraded it is...

As the sunlight spilled as much as it could through the blinds into the dark room, the being in the bed began to stir. It was restless; as if they had a bad dream or was in an uncomfortable position. The light forced more of itself into the room. Three cats were sleeping on the bed; one black as the night with long fur curled on the lower left corner; another of orange and ginger golds relaxed on a spare small pillow-pet next to the being's head; and the last of mixed brown and black colors—with paws white as if wearing socks—looking rather disturbed from the restless motions atop the being's thigh.

The being itself was curled up tight under the millions of folds of blankets—despite the time of year approaching summer.

She must have preferred the heat. Though that could be the reason of her annoying and unbearable tossing and turning.

This Saturday morning was rather unsettling, however. Just something in the air not standing right on the felines' hairs. Like thousands of small whispers fluttering through the space around the room. For a split second, the light that had been spilling in the room had flashed a greenish-blue. The color had seemed as if water engulfed the tomb which the being slept. Her eyelids opened fast before sitting straight up in a panic—the cat on her thigh engaging their claws and scattering off the bed.

Her chocolate brown eyes were wide with concern and confusion. She squinted, seeing that the room was normal and that the sun had already risen enough to light her room to the familiar blue hum.

Well, to take if from the beginning, I didn't think anything of it—the bright light, I mean. I figured it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. So, I just went about the morning like a regular one; pulling down the cat food from the shelf, getting myself my own food, watching TV, returning back to my room to get dressed, etc.

I'll politely skip to the part that made the day flip into something…not so regular; the trees in front of my porch.

Since my house is set on a hill, we have a pretty long and steep driveway, and the space that's not used is all trees. It's a nice location, very secluded and we've only had problems with solicitors. And that's who I thought this occasion was about, at first.

I walked down the stairs, trying to get a good look at who was hiding in the trees. I could at least see blue and hints of green, but that's all I really caught until something thrust out of the cement beneath me.

And I didn't really recall hitting the ground after that.

Here, back to the present...

…I am currently running for my life in a field of lit-up trees.
