Staking a Claim : Short Piece

Watching the fading sunlight dance over the gold highlights in her thick chocolaty brown hair he was struck once more by her beauty. Drake had been his best friend all his life, and up until recently he'd never had any thought towards her that was friendship based. . Things had shifted and changed between them since attending Hogwarts though they'd tried to hold on to the same tight knit, honest and innocent relationship they had always had being in different houses, and having different views had made it impossible. He was born to be in Slytherin and relished in the power, and position while she felt home in Gryffindor and with the friends and family of her older sister Angelina. Summer had swept in like a savior at the end of their fourth year giving them the freedom to re-establish their bonds as their families vacationed together, and they spent almost every waking hour together just like always.

But now summer was drawing to a close and he actually found himself afraid to return to school and loose this. His Father encouraged, and discouraged many feelings, attitudes, and beliefs, but he'd always been clear on how pleased he was to see him spend time with Korrigan. After discovering they had matching marks back in grade school both knew they were linked, but never received a straight answer when they asked their parents about it, Some thing's they'd said were meant to be discovered on their own.

"What?" She asked turning to meet his gaze as they trailed along the beach side by side as they enjoyed the last day in the Bahamas.

Shaking his head as he took her in he felt warmth start in his stomach and spread up filling his normally pale face with blood as he licked his suddenly dry lips taking in her tiny black shorts, and black bikini top. Shaking his head as she frowned slightly before looking at him with question filled Amethyst colored eyes he felt his stomach clench as his gaze was drawn again to all the places in her body that were filling out. It was like a fever in his blood. He'd noticed the change and now he couldn't' stop noticing other things. Like the way her voice eased him, and the way her smile made his day some how brighter. He'd been drawn to her since they were children, and now it was like her light was shining brighter and burner hot attracting him like a moth.

Pausing to watch the sun make the rest of his final descent for the evening he shook his head. Turning away from her as he looked out over the sea as the puzzle pieces fit together. She was his, that was why they had matching marks, why they'd' always been best mates, and why he felt strangely drawn to her. There was nothing he wouldn't do for her… a characteristic that didn't come naturally to Slytherin or Malfoy's. This was what they hadn't been able to explain to them as children. Never won to hesitate when there was something he wanted he let his arm wrap around her waist meeting her purple gaze when she looked up and holding it as he lowered his lips to hers.

Feeling his mark burn as their lips brushed gently he was spurred to deepen the kiss letting his tongue snake out to caress her lips before slipping inside as he devoured her branding her his as fire shot through her veins warming her whole body. Pulling away for air he looked down at her with a fire in his green gaze she'd never witnessed before.

"You're mine," He said growling as something inside of her answered him. It was like a link had been opened between them that had existed unused until now when she could feel everything he did.

"What is this?" she whispered shaking her head as he trembled slightly glad his arms had crept around to support her.

"Fate," he answered definitively knowing this was the beginning .
