To Her Promise Land
(Tifa's reminiscences on Aeris and Cloud.)
She was kind and sweet.
She was pretty and noble.
She died for the planet.
To her promise land she has gone.
But does she still hold your heart?
Is she still on your mind,
in the tender moments before and after blissful sleep?
I always loved you.
Not quite true, I loved you more gone,
than ever when you had been there.
I searched through papers for your picture.
My hero, my love.
I never saw your picture, your face.
I never saw you, for five years.
Then on a chance (of fate, destiny?) I saw you again.
You were hired as a mercenary to help our cause.
You hardly remembered me at first.
It hurt.
Our promise?
Nearly forgotten.
You did remember after a few moments though.
You childhood friend. Nothing more.
We continued our lives.
Barret and I fought for the cause. You for the money.
Then she came.
You fell to her from above.
But she was more the angel in your eyes.
Beautiful, kind, gentle, yet outgoing.
She stole away what had never really been mine.
She turned you to our cause when I had failed.
You said you wanted to find Sephiroth.
But it turned to so much more.
She stole your heart from me,
though I had never trully possesed it.
But its not her fault.
I wish I had known her better.
I wish we where better friends.
I remorse at our disputes.
I mourn for my insensitivites.
My jealous feelings.
I wish we had been best friends.
But you always stood between us.
Now neither has you.
Your heart with the one that is dead.
While you ignor the one that is living.
I am sure she did not want it that way.
Sweet Aeris.
Good Aeris.
Your smile lasting till the end.
Saved the world,
with a small prayer.
Gone to her promise land.
I do not blame you for the sorrows of the still living.
You were an angel, good and true.
