Been toying with this idea for awhile. So I finally decided to actually write, since I've not got much work going on at uni.
Lyrics from 'Where Are You Now?' by Michelle Branch.

Where Are You Now?
Where are you now?
I'm trying to get by with never knowing at all.
What is the chance of finding you out there?
Or do I have to wait forever?
Jim was sat in his room. He looked out the small window. The scenery seemed to never change. Except for the occasional new planet coming into view. It had been over two weeks since they'd left Symka 5. Still Jim could get her out of his mind.
Hanmyo.
He hadn't even known her for a day. But she was the first girl he'd fallen for. And even after those two weeks apart he still couldn't get her out of his mind. He didn't even know if he'd see her again. after all, space was immense. The chances of ever seeing her again were very slim. In fact it was likely that he'd never see her again.
But he still wondered.
Where are you now?
I'm trying to get by with never ever knowing at all.
What is the chance of finding you out there?
Or do I have to wait forever?
At night he dreamed of her. Of the first time he saw her. The way she gracefully leapt, completely unaware of his presence. The look of puzzlement on her face when she first saw him. The excitement in her voice when she spoke of their meeting being fate.
It was beginning to become so that all Jim wanted to do was sleep. He didn't understand how a girl could captivate his mind so much that he lost all will to live. Except in his dreams.
He knew the others were beginning to worry about him. He wasn't acting like his usual self. He knew this. He'd tried to hide it from them. But for some reason he was unable to stop spacing out.
All he could keep thinking about was why she had to leave so suddenly. She had arranged to meet him. Why would she do that if it wouldn't be possible. What could have come up that would have stopped her from being there?
So he had suddenly taken off. But it wasn't like they were in the same situation. Hanmyo was just a normal girl. It wasn't like she was on some crazy quest like he was.
Had there been an emergency? Was someone she was travelling with really ill? Could that have been why she didn't show up.
His mind danced with the possibilities. Flitting from one to the next. Each one possibly plausible. But still he'd never know the truth. Not unless he could see her again. not unless fate ordained that they should meet again.
Hanmyo believed it was fate that had brought them together in the first place. Maybe fate would bring them back together again. as ridiculous as it might have seemed to him a few weeks ago, fate was all Jim had left to believe in. Maybe if he believed enough in it, them they could meet again.
It was desperate thinking. Jim knew this. But it was all he had left to do. All he had left to believe in.
Fate.
Where are now?
I'm trying to get by with never ever knowing at all.
And still I don't know.
That was shorter then I thought it might have been. It was also worse then I had hoped it could be. But please review and let me know what you think. No flames.
