Russia, 100 miles northwest of Yakutsk, in the heart of Siberia. 0400 hours.
The frozen Lena River winds through the Siberian landscape, snow falls.
A dark figure can barely be seen through the ice. *Move camera underwater,
zoom in on the figure. A man in a grey, skin-tight suit can now be seen
clearly, he has a diving mask on(ala MGS1). The player immediatly senses
Solid Snake. Visibility is close to zero due to the darkness of the night.
*Position camera behind man, focus on a grate at the river bottom. The figure
swims forward to the grate. The man reaches for a small pack attached to his
back and pulls out a very small object, as the man presses a button, a blue
flame shoots forth from the object. The figure moves the torch to the bottom
of the iron grate and goes to work on the bottom-most strip. He burns a hole
just big enough to swim through. The man swims through the dark tunnel, he can
see only because of his diving mask, which have two small lights attached to
the plastic.
As the man swims forward through the passage, a bright white light cuts through
the water, he looks up and notices a narrow, rocky hole through the earth.
Water trickles down across the rocks, he figures it is just big enough to
climb through. The man pops his head up above the waterline, it has become
quite shallow, like a cave. He clasps his hands to the stones and begins to
climb upward, it is very slippery, but he keeps cool. As he reaches the top
of his climb, the man pokes his head out of the hole, it has stopped snowing,
the moon shines in full force, he looks around, sees no sign of anyone and climbs out
of the hole. *Have camera come from below. The man removes his diving mask,
we get our first view of Solid Snake. He has long, dark hair, a scruffy beard,
and those same piercing eyes(similar to MGS2), the bandana wraps his head. His
sneaking suit is similar to that of MGS2. Snake notices a densely wooded area
near him and darts for cover, he places his hand on his neck.
