Malik stared down at the waves crashing against the ship, the spray rushing up to meet him, then falling back down.
'So pointless... so... stupid.'
Malik slammed his fist down on the railing, sudden anger coursing through him.
"I will not be forced into some ridiculous, endless cycle. I will take control, no one can force me to some 'predestined' life!"
The waves continued to dip up and down, the Gods heedless of the puny humans.
Malik turned away in disgust from the blue ocean, sick of the sight; of the path he himself had nearly been shuffled into.
"I will make the Gods heed me. I will show they cannot continue to force the rest of us out of sight for favor of their power plays. I will show to them that the days of their control is over!''
'Yeessss...' Hissed the voice within him, 'Yes, take the world for your own... Take control at last!'
Malik turned back to the endless waves, a sudden anticipation springing up within him; nothing could go wrong.
And... that voice had always been there, hadn't it?
The lightning strike drew back and Rishid fell bonelessly to the ground; like a puppet cut from its master's strings.
Malik vaguely heard shouting coming as though through a thick fog, but he remained rooted to the spot staring at Rishid's seemingly lifeless heap.
'Get up.... Get up!' Malik thought desperately at Rishid's still form, as though his desire would compel him to rise.
Malik's heart rose as Rishid slowly drew himself up, but plummeted as he slumped back down.
He took a hesitant step forward, somehow knowing that Rishid would not be stirring again.
Suddenly a force rose within him and grabbed onto his mind overlapping his mind with its force. 'Rishid!' He cried out, not knowing whether or not the shout was uttered aloud or not as he felt himself slowly falling.
A voice echoed out of the darkness, 'How can you ever expect take control when you rely on such pathetic creatures?'
Malik could almost hear the Gods' laughter.
'No!' He cried out soundlessly, and slowly shook him out of his stupor. It would not end like this! He had gone through to much trouble for the Gods to punt him aside so easily!
Malik hardened his resolve and determination, and followed the thin thread of light out of the darkness.
He would play at the Gods' games if needed, and he would win!
A/U: Well, that was random. Really have no idea what I was thinking when I was writing it, I just felt like writing something. Review please, it would make me incredibly happy just to find out that someone actually read this let alone liked it.
