Ice Skating
Titans North—Argent, Red Star, Kole and Gnarrk had invited Herald and Jericho to go ice skating at a rink that had just been opened a week ago. Jericho was rather eager; Herald wasn't. But he still went anyway.
Now, Herald was holding onto the wall for dear life as he tried to keep upright, not daring to move. Red Star had pushed off the wall minutes ago and had fallen down five times. Argent had materialized a pair of ski poles out of plasma to help her skate, and Kole had turned herself into diamond and laid upon her belly with her knees bent so that Gnarrk could use her like a sled.
As for Jericho, he was skating around the rink like a pro, much to Herald's envy. Jericho was listening to his iPod as he danced.
"So don't be alarmed if he takes you by the arm."
Jericho did a twirl.
"I won't let him win, but I'm a sucker for his charm."
He did a three skips.
"Trouble is a friend, yeah trouble is a friend of mine, oh oh!"
He was about to do a jump when Herald shouted at him.
"Hey, Jer!" Herald said shakily as he tried to stay upright. "Could you lend a hand?"
Jericho smiled and skated to his friend. He took both of Herald's hands and pulled him to the centre of the rink. Herald looked down nervously at his feet, trying to keep steady.
Jericho grinned and took out an earphone to put into Herald's ear. The trumpeter could hear the song.
"How I hate the way he makes me feel."
Jericho placed his hand on Herald's shoulder and the other on his waist. Herald mimicked him. Then, Jericho began moving. They did a slow turn, and Herald realized—they were going to waltz on ice.
"And how I try to make him leave."
Herald's nervousness quickly dissipates as Jericho did a turn beneath his partner's arm before moving near him again. They moved back and forth slowly.
"I try,
Oh, oh, I try."
Herald was so focused on Jericho that he doesn't notice the others watching them, mesmerized. The other heroes as the two boys did a couple of turns on the ice. Red Star was still on the ice, having fallen over again. Argent was slowly skiing around as she observed the two. Gnarrk and Kole had switched positions—Gnarrk was sliding on the ice with his ape-like toes with Kole held above him.
Finally, the song was over and the two stopped. The teenagers (and caveman) on the rink, clapped and applauded their performance. The sudden entry of noise other than music shocked Herald and he slipped, pulling Jericho down with him. Because of the ice, the momentum sent them sliding beside Red Star.
Now, the rink was filled with laughter. Herald couldn't help but join in while Jericho laughed silently above Herald. Then, Jericho leant forward and gave Herald a light kiss before gesturing for another dance.
