Leo knocked on the door to the lab.

"...Come in."

He opened the door slowly, ever cautious in Don's lab for fear of breaking something.

"Hey, bro," Leo greeted, closing the door behind him and walking over to where his brother was hunched over his desk, staring into space. "What're you thinking about?"

"Nothing much," Don shrugged, "just..." He sighed, shaking his head. "It's nothing."

"C'mon, Don." Leo sat on the desk near his brother, tapping Don's chin to get him to look at his elder. "What's wrong?"

Don sighed again. "Why is it always us that get hurt? Why do we have to protect the humans? They're not even grateful for it. We're just freaks to them."

Leo sighed, knowing he'd have to broach this subject with the most sensitive of his brothers eventually. "Humans are... simple. Small-minded. They're scared of those who aren't like themselves."

"But we help them!" Don exclaimed, confused still. "Why would they not like us?"

"Don," Leo chuckled, but there was no mirth behind it, "have you seen us? We're green! We have shells and ninja weapons! Don, look at me."

Don looked up again from his lap. Leo got off the desk and pressed his forehead on Don's. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We're good people, Don. If they don't see that, it's their fault. Don't let it get you down."

Don sniffed, nodding at his brother. "Thanks, Leo."
