Smallville: The Lantern

General Sam Lane had become a rough man after a lifetime of service to his country, he had to

witness good men die and people that deserved to die lived long healthy lives but in the midst of all

of this he did bear two wonderful daughters, Lois and Lucy Lane. He hated being in the small town of

Smallville, this town had been littered with meteor rocks and he had saw first hand what over exposure

does to a person and it's something he never wanted to experience. He smiled and looked up when he

heard the small supersonic jet plane race overhead, he watched it land with ease and he walked over

to it with a group of people. He watched as the cockpit slid open and Hal Jordan slipped out of the

plane looking cocky as ever, General Lane knew this was the man that was going to take his place in

a matter of years. He remembered meeting Hal Jordan when he was just a cadet in the Air Force, the

kid thought a lot of himself but he could back it up, he was amazing at anything he did and that's when

General Lane took a great interest in him. "Fantastic job Jordan, you looked like a natural flying that

plane up there".

He laughed and ran his hands through his black hair, "it felt like I've been flying it my whole life".

General Lane smiled as he went back to his friends, he had always been curious about Jordan's ability

to fly anything and everything, he had even looked into his past and was amazed to find that Jordan

was a troublemaker who couldn't handle a bicycle much less a car. He smiled because he knew this

young man was the future of the Air Force but he was also hiding a secret that may kill his career

before it even begins.
