Being Erased

I wish you trusted me

It might have kept me from going this far

You didn't seem to care when I asked you

'Do you love me?'

You growled at me 'Go away I'm working'

You never saw the pain in my eyes

Or maybe you did and you simply didn't care

'Why do you never answer?' I yelled back

'Because you're a mistake, nothing I should bother over'

That did it; I slapped you and ran out

I heard you yelling 'no wait! Come back! I didn't mean it!'

Something wet came down my cheeks in streams

Tears, salty and wet

But I was too busy running away from you

Your words cut far deeper than you'll ever know

They ripped apart the remains of my heart

I don't get it

We were so happy together

When did it become this?

Before I knew it I came to our secret place

Well, now it's your secret place



I took off my shoes, jacket, and other heavy items

The lakes water was slimy and slick against my skin

Slowly going deeper I walked without fear

I reached the cliff of the lake

Even in the light of the full moon I couldn't see the bottom

I took a nice deep breath, for this would be my last

I looked up at the midnight colored sky

It was spotted with white dots and a moon so big and bright

The lakes wave lapped at my legs

I slowly let go of the breath that I had been holding

I fell backwards into the murky depths

I could see light shining through the water

Did you really ever care?

Are you looking for me now?

I snorted some of the air I had left

Of course you weren't

You didn't even care

I can feel my lungs slowly restrict as I sunk deeper

I guess your mistake is being erased

I can make out a shadow

I think it was yours

I can barely hear someone yelling

Confused I was starting to wonder if I was right

But almost as soon as I saw the shadow it was gone

Tears came out mixing with the lakes water



I let the last of my air out as I hit the bottom

I think I'm on a rock then it dawned on me

You couldn't see me because I was so far down

You cared! You went looking for me

With new hope I pushed off the rock

Towards the lakes surface that the moonlight was shining through

My lungs were screaming for air

With one last kick I came to the surface

I take a deep breath, coughing harshly

I'm on my hands and knees, right at the beginning of the cliff

I see someone on the lakes shore

I was scared as I approached them

When I saw you, I was happy until I noticed the blood

You were barely breathing

'No! Why? Why did you do this?' I yelled crying

Blood tricked from your mouth as you spoke

'Because…….i thought you were dead'

You cared! I can't believe I didn't think you cared

But you've been ignoring me I come to the worst conclusion

And it took to see you dying to realize it

What have I done?

I held you close to me

'Don't go, please don't go yet! Don't leave me alone!'

You were breathing harder 'Promise me……'

I looked at you, 'Wha…..?'



'Promise me that you won't follow! That you won't die'

I couldn't hold back the tears

'I….I promise'

You looked happy, 'I'm glad I got to see your face one last time'

I looked at you in horror

'No! Come back! Please come back'

But it was too late

You were already gone

Your eyes were now dull

I picked you up and placed you in the water

I watched as you slowly sunk to the bottom

Where I had been only moments ago

I turned my back to you and this place for the last time

'Good-bye, my love'
