Prologue
Didn't we always promise each other….
That we would always be together…?
Thinking back on my past, I sit here, staring blankly into the small stream. The warm breeze caressing the soft skin of my face. A small frown formed on my lips as I remembered that day when me and my sister Mayu were younger. She had fallen down the hill and seemingly it was my fault.
Startled suddenly as my sister put her hands on my shoulders and stood above me, I look up, smiling softly. "We used to play here all the time.." She said softly as she smiled down at me. I smiled and nodded in return. "Yeah.." She sat down behind me, resting her back against mine. "All of this will be gone soon.." I turned my head a little, "Is your leg okay?" I started. "Does it hurt?" I added in. "It does a little. But I'm okay." She smiled and sighed softly.
"Mio..?" "Yeah?" "Um.. Never mind.." She said as she leaned forward a little. Sudden thoughts of Mayu falling down the hill haunted my brain before I snapped back to reality. "Mayu.. About that time back then…" I began as I slowly turned my head again to look at her, before noticing she was gone. "Mayu…?" I quickly looked around and found her, following a small glowing red butterfly. "Mayu!" I shouted and she didn't respond so I scrambled to my feet and ran to catch up with her. "Mayu! Wait!" I followed her through the woods. Catching sight of her again, I caught up with her, grabbing her shoulder and turning her around. Something wasn't right…
As I turned her around, she looked like a whole different person wearing a white Kimono. After being startled I looked at my hands then up again and she was gone.. I followed a path, looking up to see torches beside stone pillars. I was curious. I continued on and noticed an arch. After cocking an eyebrow and looking at it curiously I continued to walk up to it. There was a girl standing there crying. She was wearing a white Kimono. "I'm so sorry… I'm so sorry…" It said softly. Slowly approaching it from the side I try to look at her more closely. I watched a small butterfly fly past my face. I looked back and the girl was gone so I continued. "Where is this…?" I asked myself. I followed the butterfly up to a hill and it lead me to Mayu.
Mayu had turned around and a mass of glowing crimson butterflies flew out of her. "The lost village…" She said softly, looking at me in kind of a daze. "I've heard about this place.." She began, looking out into the village. "There was a village here that disappeared during a festival… People who get lost in the woods get trapped by the village… Could this be that place…?" She asked softly looking at me as she rested her hands on her chest.
