Disclaimer: I don't own Final Fantasy.

I figured it was high time someone wrote a fic about Cecil and Zidane discussing their brothers, since no one's semmed to really cover the subject yet. Enjoy.

"Got a lot on your mind?"

Startled out of thought, Cecil's gaze turned to Zidane, who had just walked out of the Cosmos Warriors' encampment area. Cecil had escaped outside to brood, but then again, Zidane, from what he had seen of him, seemed like a decent person to talk to.

"Yeah, you could definitely say that," Cecil replied, turning back around to stare at the moon.

Frowning a bit, Zidane plopped down on the ground and sat Indian style. "So, what's up? Something wrong?"

Cecil sighed, his worries finally hittng him full force as he took a seat beside the genome. "Well, my brother...he's on the side of Chaos. Golbez. I've been trying to connect with him, but...well, I just don't know what to do."

To Cecil's surprise, Zidane shot him a look of understanding. "Actually, I have family on Chaos's side, too. We have a pretty rocky relationship."

Cecil raised an eyebrow. Zidane was dealing with the same issue. This was news. "Which warrior?" he queried.

"Kuja," Zidane answered. "You see, I never really knew my family until I was sixteen, and I learned a had a brother and a sister."

Cecil's face smoothed out a bit. The conversation started to flow more easily as he realized just how well Zidane could sympathize. "I've never talked to Kuja...well, what's your family like?"

Zidane scrunched up his face in an almost comedic fashion. "Well, Mikoto, my other sibling, definitely has issues with emotions. Our father of sorts...well, I guess you could call us artificial beings..."

Zidane trailed off, unsure of how Cecil would react, but the king of Baron just nodded for him to continue, not passing any judgement. "Go on, I'm listening."

"Yeah, so Mikoto didn't exactly had a soul. None of us had naturally been created with one. Only Kuja and I really gained souls eventually, and Kuja wasn't much better even with that. Fun fact: Kuja dropped me on a different planet to get rid of me as a child. It's really too bad neither of them began life on Gaia with me...Now Kuja's still trying to kill me, and I'd thought we had made up after everything we'd gone through!"

"It's a little like that with Golbez," said Cecil. "I never knew him until recent, and he had been brainwashed and connived into hunting down my companions and me. He really seemed like he'd come around the last time I saw him before this, but now I'm worried. Do you think we'll be able to get our family back?"

"I sure hope so," said Zidane. "Life without family sure is lonely."

"No kidding," Cecil murmured. Feeling a little better now that he had a kindred spirit in Zidane, Cecil rose, hearing the other warriors making a commotion inside. "Guess we better head in before the others start to worry."

Zidane held out his hand for a handshake. "Good look with your brother!"

Cecil smiled and shook Zidane's hand. "And good luck with your sister!"

Zidane cocked his head to the side in utter confusion. "Sister?"

"Yeah. Kuja?"

Zidane took a moment to process Cecil's words, and then connected the "sister" statement with Kuja's appearance and personality...

Cecil never figured out why Zidane walked away in a fit of giggles.

I just had to write a funny ending.

I really had to take my time with this, notice how Zidane never refers to Kuja as "he" or "him"? Plus, Mikoto sounds more like a boy's name than Kuja, if you're unfamiliar with the characters.
