Restless Night

Disclaimer: I don't own RWBY.

It was dark. Blake could hear loud snoring along with tossing and turning above her. Yang had always been a noisy sleeper. Blake was used to it. That wasn't what was keeping her up. No, it was that thing. That insufferable fur-ball that the rest of her team loved so much. Zwei. Right now, he was currently curled up on her legs, sleeping peacefully. While Blake was staring at the bottom of Yang's bunk, eyes and ears twitching as every fiber of her being protested against the canine sleeping on top of her. She finally decided that enough was enough and grabbed Zwei by the neck before placing him on the ground. She then turned on her side to try and get some sleep, before her eyes shot open again as she felt something slump onto her bed. She propped herself up on her elbow and looked behind her to see Zwei once again curled up on her blanket.

She clenched her teeth and let out a low growl. Her patience exhausted, she decided to shove Zwei off of her bed, earning a surprised yelp from the dog as he landed on the ground. He got on his feet, flashed her the sweet puppy eyes and whined as he lowered his ears.

"No!" She replied, her voice cold and stern.

Another whine.

"No!"

Letting out another whine, Zwei turned around and walked away with his head lowered. Anyone else would have felt sorry for the dog, but Blake's cat-nature kept her from feeling any sort of sympathy for the canine.

Once again, she turned around and tried to get to sleep.

After a few moments, something plopped down onto her bed again. Her eyes shot open and her brows furrowed, her face becoming one big scowl. She shot up and looked at the dog curled up on her bed, scratching his ear with his hind leg as if he didn't have a care in the world. She gripped him by his neck and pulled him up hissing into his face. As he seemed unimpressed by the hostile display, she simply extended her arm and dropped him onto the floor. She then stared at him for a few moments, waiting for him to jump back up.

When it seemed like he was perfectly fine with sitting on the floor, she turned back over to lay down. The second her head plopped onto her pillow, she felt that insufferable shift of weight on her bed. This time, she didn't even bother opening her eyes and just let out a long sigh. She was getting nowhere with this. It was clear that she only had one option. Change beds.

She got up and looked around. Weiss' bed was on the same level as her's, so that wasn't an option. As for Yang, if she wasn't as bad as Zwei, she was worse. There was no way Blake wouldn't get any sleep with her.

That left her with one fairly acceptable option.

She silently jumped onto Ruby's bunk and gently shook her awake. With a sudden snort, Ruby shot up. "I'm up! I'm up! What's going on?"

"Hey, Ruby," Blake whispered. "Sorry to wake you, but Zwei keeps jumping into my bed."

"Hehe, yeah, he does that."

"So, I was wondering," Blake started, surprised to feel her face heat up a little. "Could I sleep here tonight.

She noticed her leader's cheeks gaining a slight hint of pink. "Oh, um, sure, yeah, of course."

"Thanks. And sorry, I just can't sleep with him in my bed."

"It's okay," Ruby said as she gently hugged Blake. "I don't mind." She then looked down at Zwei, who was looking up at them, and gave him a thumbs up.

He barked happily and curled himself up on the floor.
