It Must Rain for There to Be a Rainbow
A/N: My second AkihikoxMisaki poem. It was originally a poem I wrote for English but I added and changed most of it to suit the pairing. Hope you enjoy it.
Ever since I was small,
I was like the sun in the late afternoon.
A dim, gloomy, faint flicker of light in the endless sky,
full of awakening bright stars.
Every morning,
when it creeps above the horizon,
clouds would gather near the young soft sun.
They grow dark with anger and despair.
Tears would flow freely to the ground.
Light would flash across the sky.
The sound of roaring lions echo over the hills.
The sun is a defenceless weak mouse,
hiding from the world.
After years of this daily torture,
the sun gives up and accepts his inevitable future.
Where it will forever remain blind to the rest of the world.
But one day, at sunrise,
when the sun was expecting the worst of its bleak destiny,
a soft wind swept past the sun and the raging storm.
The sun was partially free from the darkness.
Beyond the clouds of darkness and sorrow,
all that the sun saw,
was a bright rainbow smiling back at him.
Its saviour from heaven has come.
You are my bright rainbow.
A rainbow of hope,
that has come to save me from myself.
Save me from the horrors of the outside.
Melt away the block of ice surrounding me.
Break away the cage I had locked myself in.
From now on, every morning,
will be a vibrant happy sunrise,
which will erase all the dark thoughts of the previous day.
Each day will be a new opportunity to mend our mistakes.
No matter how bad today was,
I will always look ahead to tomorrow's sunrise.
Misaki,
Forever be the light at the end of my tunnel.
Forever be my rainbow that brings hope to me every day.
Forever love me as an equal.
Forever be by my side for every step I take,
on my very own yellow brick road.
Usami Akihiko
