Hello, 'tis me! (Duh.) So, I'm bored, and have writer's block, then BAM! Inspiration. So, this is a little Dira oneshot. It's my first attempt at Dira, as well as romance. Well, there was that Hartemis I did, but friendship was reallt the main genre of that. WARNING: ANGSTY FLUFF STARTS NOW.
The first thing he'd seen of her were those turquoise eyes. He'd been trying to escape, he was so close, then he saw them and all of a sudden he was trapped all over again. Just for a second, he'd stopped to stare in amazement. That was the best and worst decision of his life.
Their first date had been at the beach. They'd sat together on the sand and talked. Nothing exciting. No wackjob apes. Just them, talking. It was beautiful, as was she. Her eyes were the same exact colour of the ocean. She had sat there beside him, staring out to sea. Longingly, now he thought about it, but at the time he didn't care, just brushed it off because he was sitting on the beach with the girl of his dreams. So he convinced himself that she was happy, that she'd want a mundane life with the herd forever. He wasn't the only one guilty. She was convincing herself, as well, or at least trying. And for the time being it worked.
"I love you." He could pinpoint the exact moment she'd said that to him. It was a cold morning, frost covering the grass, turning it a chilly turquoise colour. Her eyes were different, though. He felt warmer whenever she looked at him. That made a whole load of difference. They were walking through the forest in companionable silence, trying to find breakfast, when suddenly, out of the blue, she'd said it. Then she'd kissed him. He was too shocked to kiss back, for a second. Then he pulled himself together and they'd kissed again. And again, and several more times after that.
It was a few months after that when their relationship came crashing down. Violently. She had been restless, unable to sleep. They were fighting, too. All the time. She would find fault in everything he did, and him with her. There were screaming matches nearly every day. Almost every night she was by the ocean. He had sat down beside her. "You okay?"
When she looked back her eyes were dark, like the waves lapping against the white sand. "No. I-I can't stay here. This was never- Look, I-" she sighed. "This isn't my home. The sea is my home. It's always been, ever since I was a cub. And now I'm getting homesick."
He could literally feel his heart splinter into pieces, like a shard of ice thrown at the ground. "No. Your home's with me." His eyes teared up. "Don't go."
He could see her beautiful eyes fill with tears as well. "I have to."
Six months. Six months. That's how long she'd been gone. He spent most of his time on the beach, watching the turquoise waves that reminded him so much of her eyes. He knew he was crazy, acting like a lovesick teenager. But he couldn't help it. He ate little, slept less. He got up, shaking the sand from his coat. He'd been here three hours already, going over every little detail of their relationship again and again. He walked through the forest, watching the golden patterns the sunlight painted on the ground as it fell through the leaves. Suddenly a movement caught his eye. Two lights in the bushes, a vivid turquoise colour. He turned away. Now he was crazy. Maybe he should just let her go.
Suddenly he was tackled, being pinned to the ground by something. He looked up into a familiar pair of stunning turquoise eyes. She kissed him, again and again. He was grinning like an idiot, probably, but he didn't care. She was back with him at last.
