Writing off the premise that Hades and Persephone never had children.
--
"I've been sent by Zeus, Hades."
He looked down at her from his throne. "You can tell him to shove off."
"Hades…" Hera started.
"No, damn it. You know why Persephone and I haven't had any children," he said angrily.
"I know," replied Hera softly.
"Then why are you tormenting me?" he asked, his eyes filled with anguish.
"I never wanted things to be like this…" she said sadly.
He stood up suddenly, gripping her arms tightly as he pulled her to him. "I've missed you, sweetheart," he murmured as he buried his head in her neck. "I haven't forgotten…"
"Hades, I've told you time and time again. You must forget. Get Persephone with child. We both know there's nothing wrong with either of you physically. You have no need for my expertise as the goddess of marriage," she said.
"We also both know that I made a vow to you that I will never break." He smiled and a hint of the old charming Hades lit up his face. "As much as hate to offend the goddess of marriage, such ties have no power over my love for you. I am yours, body, heart, and soul. Forever."
"Hades, we mustn't," she said weakly as he resumed trailing kisses along her throat.
"If I remember correctly, and I think I do, we must and we do very very well," he mumbled.
"It's been centuries," she pointed out as her resolve started to crack.
He lifted his head to look down into her eyes. "Some things are eternal."
She stared back at him, her eyes shining with unshed tears. Blinking them back she lifted her arms and circled his neck with them. "Show me," she whispered.
"It would be my pleasure," he murmured as he lowered his head once more and kissed her.
