A Troubled Past
"Hey! Gaara-san!" I exclaimed, trying to grab the red-haired boy's attention.
"Hmm? What do you want Ai-chan?" He responded, wondering what I had behind my back.
"Well," I answered ,"I wanted to wish you a happy birthday, and give you this!" I hand him the package in my hands. "It's a story about our past and what we went through as kids. It also holds the truth."
"Thank you, Ai-chan. This really means a lot to me. I'll start reading it as soon as I get home!" He left the road they were on and set for his home. He starts reading, and the story goes like this:
"You and I were the most forlorn children in Sunagakure. Everyone believed that we were mosters because of what we had inside of us. We each had a powerful demon sealed into us before birth to save our home, so they say. You recieved Shukaku the Sand Spirit, but I accepted Akane no Inu into my body. Do you remember how everyone looked at us in fear and cowardice, like we were planning to attack? And how neither of us were allowed to sleep unless Suna wanted two demons going crazy? We were both alone in the world. We never knew the love of a mother or a family. Do you remember what your father told us? He said that our mothers murmured the exact same words, 'Curse you Sunagakure! Please, avenge my death so I can be at peace!' Those words gave us a reason to live. It's not the killing of others, but the request our mothers had! I know the truth, Gaara. I know why Yashamaru tried to kill us! Old lady Chiyo told me. Your father realized he mad a great mistake when he had the demons placed into us. The arrogant Kazekage just wanted human weapons. He didn't care about us! He thought we were too powerful for our own good, so he sent assassins to kill us including Yashamaru.Yashamaru may have taken care of us, but he only wanted to kill you for the death of his sister, your mother. Remember how his mission ended? How it ended in blood that was splattered evwerywhere? How we both wrote kanji symbols on our foreheads? I wrote death, you wrote love. That day, we realized that we will never be accepted for who we are. We are the Jinchuuriki of the Sand."
When Gaara finished reading the story, he was sobbing. His sister, Temari, asked him what was wrong. He showed her the story.
"Oh my goodness, Gaara! Did all of this really happen?" she said, worried about her youngest brother. Gaara just nodded, still sobbing. "Well,I love you Gaara, demon or no demon." she told him. Then, she held him in her arms and they cried together.
