Cold Hearted
"Soul… Soulll?" I could hear Maka whispering my name. I opened my eyes to see her standing in the door way. She was wearing sweat pants and a hoodie. She even carried her blanket on her shoulders. "Soul?" I rolled over and closed my eyes. "Soul please I need your help." She was still whispering.
"Maka, go back to bed! It's like 2 in the morning." I grumbled. 'There's nothing she can do to make me get out of my bed.' I thought to myself.
"Soul, please I need you to close my air vent." I could hear that she had made her way to the side of my bed. I continued to lay there ignoring her. "Soul, please?" The she did it! She placed to things on my back that I could have sworn where ice cubes. It woke me right up, I jumped out of my bed ready to unleash hell.
"What in the world Maka! Did you put ice on my back!" I was screaming at her, but she looked utterly confused.
"Soul?" She continued whispering. "What are you talking about?"
"What did you put on my back Maka!?" I was screaming even louder at her now. She took a step back.
"Soul? I put my hands on your back, is that what you're talking about?" Now I was the one who looked confused.
"Are you kidding me Maka that's not funny." I reached for her hands, pulling them from her blanket. I could tell she wasn't lying. Her small fingers where freezing to the touch. "Did you put your hands in the fridge Maks?" I pulled her hands to my cheeks to warm them up. That's when I saw her blush. Man did she look cute when she did.
"S-Soul will you go close my air vent now?" Her air vent was too high on the wall for her to reach. I made her promise to always let me close it, because last time she got on her desk chair to try to close it. The chair rolled right out from under her and she got really hurt.
"Of course Maka." I let her go and walked her back to her room. Opening the door to her room felt like opening the freezer. I walked over to her air vent and snapped it shut. "Why didn't you just turn down the air conditioner." I walked back to her as she sat down on her bed.
"Because then your room would get hot." She wasn't lying. My room was always the hottest in the apartment and her room was always the coldest. That's why I always slept without a shirt on. But I had never seen it this bad before. I grabbed her hands and held them up.
"Yes but this isn't healthy. You can't be freezing yourself." She turned red again and pulled her hands back.
"Soul, I'm sorry. I'll let you go back to sleep now." She laid down curling herself into a ball and pulled the covers over her head.
"Like hell you are!" I threw the blanket from her, and picked her up into my arms. That's when I realized that it wasn't only her hands but her whole body was like ice.
"Soul what are you doing out me d-down!" Her face grew red and she tried to get down but I wasn't letting go. I started to walk her to my room.
"Maka, your room is going to take a long time to warm up, I'm not letting you sleep in there." She stopped struggling against me and set one of her hands on my chest. Its temperature on my bare skin made me want to shiver, but I refused to do so. I sat her down on the side of my bed, and I continued to lay down. She tried to stand up, but I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into the warmth of my bed. She laid quietly for a few minutes before breaking the silence.
"Soul, you made your point I won't let my room get that cold again. Can I go back to my room now?" she was back to a whisper. She rolled over to face me and wait for an answer. I grabbed her hand and put it on my chest. It still felt cold to the touch.
"Once your body is the same temperature as mine I will let you leave." She silently nodded her approve. I pulled her close to me so that her face was resting against my chest. Before I could tell her she could leave she fell asleep in my arm, and I was soon to fallow.
