It's the end. The Neverseen is dead, but so are all of the Black Swan. If anyone's left, they're not making a sound. Except...Sophie Foster. One-shot for Sophitz AND Team Foster-Keefe. Rated T for death.
Sophie expected to hear screams and crashes and crying, but when she stepped onto the bloody scene, everything was dead silent.
The dust settled, revealing the bodies lying on the ground.
It didn't matter what side they were on. They were all dead.
Sophie saw Alden and Della, two feet apart, hands barely touching, dead still.
She saw Biana, laying on top of three Neverseen members, alone but still triumphant.
Sophie saw Dex's body nearby, still gripping the hand of Rex's body.
She saw Tam and Linh, holding each other in death, and nearby, there parents, as if the adults had not made it to their children.
She saw hundreds and thousands of bodies, dead, evil, good, but now, just elves, simply elves, and the good and bad didn't matter. Because she saw the two figures she had been looking for.
Edaline was still alive, holding a still Grady's hand.
Sophie ran closer, seeing Edaline's tear stained face and then the dark blood spreading from her chest, making her breath labored.
Sophie knelt down, and Edaline wrapped an arm around her, the family united again, perfect, just for that one moment.
Edaline laid down.
Sophie let the quiet tears spill, watching her mother accept death, still holding her two loved ones.
Sophie squeezed her mother's hand as Edaline's last breath was taken.
Sophie tore her eyes away from her parents, trying not to think about orphans.
She saw someone, the only person she ever wanted to see.
She got up and ran to Fitz, who hugged her tight. She was glad to feel his still beating heart and normal breathing.
She was ripped up, with scratches and bloody legs and ripped up clothes, and he didn't look much better. But together they couldn't have been happier.
Fitz took her hand and they started to walk, as if there was someplace where the pain would just disappear.
Of course, there was one place, but Sophie wasn't ready for that.
Suddenly, she froze.
Keefe was sitting, over two bodies.
As Sophie inched closer, she saw the two bodies were Lady Gisela in black, and Lord Cassius in blue, both dead.
She knelt next to him, and no one needed to say anything.
The whole world was silent, and she was there, sitting in between two boys, and no one had to chose anything, because she loved both of them, everyone, everyone who ever died for her, she loved them too. And she was finally, finally happy, knowing there was nothing to chose and nothing to lose.
And the world was silent.
