WHEN IT HAPPENED

Serene Hill had everything. Everything includes money, fame, beauty and a host of boyfriends. She was perfect; or so she thought. Until that day. It was a Friday. And it was the 13th. But Serene was not suppositious. She didn't believe in all that nonsense about Friday the 13th being unlucky. Until that day.

That's why she continued her holidays with her family in Switzerland. Not that she included her family in all that she did. They were too busy expanding the business that was already all over the country. And anyways she preferred the company of her boyfriend more. But today he could not come along with her because of some stupid reasons he had stammered in the morning during their brief meeting. That was the sign that he was going too dump her very soon. As if it mattered. She was getting bored with him too. So, she had too go out alone today. But she knew this won't go on for long. After all, Josh had been asking her out for such a long time and Serene supposed it was time she gave him a chance. He wasn't that bad looking.

Continuing with the day, Serene went shopping first thing in the morning. Serene just loved it. She cherished the way new clothes smelled, cherished the way her favorite sandals would fit her goddess like feet perfectly and cherished the way new make-up made her even more beautiful. Serene went shopping nearly every day. It wasn't a wonder she never wore a piece of clothe twice.

After roaming the boutiques for hours, she decided to do some sightseeing. Serene had hardly come out of the bedroom since the last two days because of that damned Roger. He just wouldn't let her get dressed and go out. Except for shopping of course.

She asked the cashier of the boutique for an interesting place to visit and which did not relate to history in any way. History bored her way more than her 70 year old grandmother.

The cashier thought for several seconds then replied "Why don't you visit Barista Falls? They might just be what you need."

Serene failed to catch the glint of amusement in the cashier's huge blue eyes. After saying a curt 'Thank You', Serene settled herself in her car and asked her driver and asked her driver to take her to Barista Falls. Obviously she didn't realize she was on the path of destruction.

She asked her driver about the falls and he answered, "It's a special place ma'am. Something like a wishing well. You wish foe something and toss your coin right in. But they say that these falls are very powerful ma'am. They can make impossible things happen. But I don't believe in all this…" Serene too didn't believe in all this but decided to go ahead anyway. She knew her destiny was perfect like her. Until that day.
