Disturbance
"Nicky what are you doing? You are crushing my legs." Jackie complained in the middle of the night one night.
"No I'm not, I'm not even close to you." Nick answered groggily, still half asleep.
"Well whatever you're doing you are really hurting me." She told him.
Then came a small voice "Hi mama."
"Ahhh." Jackie screamed as she sat straight up and turned on her night light.
Nick hurriedly did the same.
"Johnna Marie, what are you doing, you silly girl?" Jackie asked the little girl who had crawled up onto the bed and had made herself right at home on top of Jackie's legs.
"Mama ahhh." The child said imitating her mother before bursting into a fit of giggles.
Nick and Jackie laughed.
"Come on, let's get you back to bed." Jackie said as she started to get out from under her warm covers.
"No seep, pay." Johnna said as she wiggled around.
"No it's not time to play, it's time to sleep." Jackie told her.
"Pay." Johnna argued.
"Look, it's sleep time, it's dark outside." Jackie said as she moved back the bedroom window curtains so Johnna could see it was dark.
Johnna frowned and stuck out her bottom lip.
Jackie sighed "Alright, how about you come sleep next to mommy and daddy." Jackie said, trying to compromise with her as she patted the area next to her.
"Yeah." Johnna said happily as she rapidly crawled in between Nick and Jackie, where Jackie had indicated.
Jackie smiled and after Johnna had gotten settled she pulled the covers up over the little girl's legs.
"Night night mama." Johnna said.
"Goodnight sweetheart, mommy loves you."
"Night night dada." Johnna said.
No response.
"Night night dada." The little girl repeated.
Nick again didn't respond, he had fallen back asleep.
"NIGHT NIGHT DADA." The little girl screamed, clearly upset Nick was not telling her goodnight.
Nick's eyes flew open, that had awoken him in a quick hurry.
"Goodnight kiddo. I love you." He told her with a smile.
Finally content that Nick had answered her Johnna smiled and wriggled down farther into the warm covers.
Jackie smiled.
"That'll teach him for falling asleep when one of the kids are awake." Jackie thought to herself before closing her eyes and going back to sleep herself.
