A/N: Hey everyone! Here's my first story about Dan and Runo, one of the first couples that I ever shipped in anime. Anyway, this is a werewolf AU. Hope you enjoy. Love it? Hate it? Rate it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Bakugan Battle Brawlers or any of its characters. The only thing I own is this plot.

Children of the Wolves

Chapter One

The pack house – well, mansion – was quiet when Dan came back late last night from a run. He usually didn't run so late, but he hadn't let out his wolf in a while. He walked stark naked through his backyard and came upon a set of bushes where he found a set of spare pants that he always kept there just for moments like these. He snuck himself through the back door, silently closing it behind him, and made his way to the kitchen to get something to eat.

With a bowl of cereal in hand, Dan leaned against the island when the lights suddenly flicked on. He froze mid bite as felt the heated glare from none other than his mother.

"Daniel Kuso, do you know what time it is?"

"Uhh," he stumbled with his words. "Not really? Past midnight, maybe?"

She looked miffed. "It's two in the morning."

Dan couldn't help but scratch the back of his head. He could've sworn that he didn't run that long, but then again, his wolf didn't run in a while.

"Sorry, mom, I didn't realize the time passed."

Her features softened. "You need to let your wolf out more. If you did, you wouldn't be out so late and for some many hours, too."

Dan sighed. "I know, I know. You're right."

"I'm always right," she said, raising an eyebrow. "I'm your mother."

He rolled his eyes but regretted doing so when she felt him pull his ear.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, mom!"

"I wish you were more responsible. As the future alpha of this pack, you can't just run along and do whatever you want in the middle of the night. And you need to take better care of your wolf! If you can't take care of yourself, how can you take care of this pack?"

Dan remained silent, rubbing his stinging ear when his mother let go of it. He wasn't silent because he had nothing to say. He was silent because his mother was right, like always. She wasn't usually the one to lecture him, his father, the Alpha, was. But she's been on her wits end.

"It's time you looked again."

Unbridled rage filled him, but he contained it; however, he could feel his canines extend and eyes glow despite himself.

"I don't want to hear it."

"You're twenty-three and still unmated," she reminded. "Every Alpha needs their Luna."

"In case you've forgotten, I've already lost mine."

"Dan–"

"Night, mom."

With a sudden loss of appetite, Dan left his bowl of cereal on the counter and left back where he came from. In a blink of an eye, he was back in his wolf form and did the only thing that he really knew how to do to get his mind off things: run.

A/N: Hope you guys enjoyed that. I know it was kinda short, but I hope you liked it nonetheless.
