~What's so Special About Me~

"Hey Fried."

"Yes Laxus?"

"Why do you love me?"

The blonde watched as his lover of something odd months push himself off from his spot on Laxus's naked chest and stared with a curious look. Laxus didn't get nervous often, but now was one of those once in a blue moon feelings. And, honestly, the mage was surprised that he even asked the question that has been swimming around in his head- take that Old Man, he actually does think- for the past couple of weeks. Right after he told Fried that he loved him.

His whole confession, with a threat thrown in there for good measure, just got him thinking. Laxus may be blonde but he wasn't dumb, despite objections from a good portion guide (they point to the fighting festival for evidence), and he could see from about day five of his friendship with Fried that the latter had some kind of thing for him. But he couldn't be sure about what kind of thing that thing was, and that bothered Laxus. When things bothered Laxus, he shoved them, excluding things about Fairy Tail, into the back of his mind and hoped that they would stop bothering him. Even when he and Fried fell into bed together one night and rose as a couple the next day, he didn't really stop and thought about the reasons why.

Then Fried got socked and let his insecurity about their relationship come out, leading Laxus to have to reassure him that their relationship wasn't pure sex and there was love (and to severely beat the living crap out of the stupid punkass that did it). That brought out his curiosity, now here he was, wearing nothing but sweat pants, with Fried, wearing nothing but one of Laxus's shirts, staring at him with those damn beautiful eyes (shut up, he could play nice like everyone else).

The Second Generation dragon slayer ran a hand down his face, and said, "You know what? Never mind. It's not important." Fried, with a childish pout, sat up and planted his hands firmly on the bigger man's chest.

"If it wasn't important, you wouldn't have asked." The older man sighed and encaged Fried's wrists with his hands, his thumbs sliding back and forth across the pale skin. Dark blue eyes stared into light blue eyes, and Laxus asked again, "Why do you love me?"

Fried leaned forward and pressed his forehead into Laxus's, eyes and voice unwavering, "You are determined and intelligent. You are loyal to Fairy Tail, and would give up everything to protect it and the rest of the guild members. You are strong and powerful, and damn good looking to boot. When I'm with you-and as cliché as this sounds- I feel safe and protected. I love you because you make me happy." The green haired man rubbed his nose against Laxus, and the dragon slayer returned the affection right back, asking, "Are you happy now, Laxus?"

The blonde pulled Fried's hands out from under him and pulled him down into his broad chest, before wrapping his arms around his lover's slim waist, and said, "Idiot. I have always been happy with you; I was just curious." Fried shook his head and kissed his stubborn dragon slayer (which seems to be a common trait among all dragon slayers).

"Oh, and Fried?"

"Yes?"

"Even if it was to protect Fairy Tail, I wouldn't give you up. Ever."
