The ones we love never leave us

(A: N) I don't know why I wrote this, it's just a possibility that could've easily happened. Not that I'd want it to!

Harry Potter inhaled in and out with shock as he lowered his wand. Had he just killed, Voldemort? The one who has constantly been trying to destroy him for seven years, was it all over?

It took him a second before he realised that yes, what he was seeing in front of him wasn't his imagination. So long so long I've been waiting for him to be gone, out of my life.

He gathered the strength to lift himself off the ground, glanced at the people who were watching, their mouths wide open, and thought only one thing, it's over.

He made his way to the Great Hall where everyone was recovering. Teachers and students looked up as he passed, many of them crying from the aftermath of the battle that took lives.

He wondered where Ron and Hermione had got to when he saw the Weasley's gathered around something, nothing but shock on their faces. Oh no oh no who is it who is it who is it the thoughts raced through his mind.

He approached them slowly, terrified of what he'd find. But the sight before him as he reached them, could have been the worst possible.

His heart started thumping in his chest, his stomach dropped. He fell to his knees in shock and pain. Hermione…. Ron… lay lifeless on the ground.

Ron's arms held around her protectively, Hermione's head lying on his chest, one of her hands joined with his.

Harry, who was now clutching his hair in his hands, screamed.

"N-no t-they finally just admitted" Harry choked, shaking his head. "T-their feelings, t-they had a whole life a-ahead of them"

Molly wiped her eyes and looked up at him. "T-this is my entire fault" Harry stuttered.

"W-what am I supposed to tell h-h-Hermione's p-parents" he said.

"T-they were with me through e-everything! I-I should be the one d-dead" Harry shook his head.

Luna walked over to see what was going on. She put her hand to her heart when she saw the lifeless bodies.

She knelt beside Harry. "They wouldn't blame you one bit Harry" she told him.

He looked up at her. "I-I want them back" he stuttered.

"Harry, they'll always be your best friends, they'll wait for you to join them, the ones we love never leave us" Luna said, a small smile on her face.

Harry looked at her intently, taking in her words when Ginny who was jogging over, caught his attention.

"Oh Harry there you are! I've been looking for-" she stopped when she saw what they were gathered around.

She rushed to Hermione and Ron's side. "No, no. not them, my brother, his soul mate NO!" she cried while shaking her head through her tears.

Harry hugged her and tried his best to comfort her as he too was still crying.

Most of Hermione and Ron's Gryffindor friends had seen what happened and shed a few tears for they had known them for so long.

"At least they died in each other's arms, protecting each other. Now they can be peaceful together and they had the chance to finally admitting their feelings, now they are resting, alive in their own world as a couple." Luna explained as she patted Harry's back a single tear sliding down her face.

Harry smiled appreciatively at her.

They all knew that this battle was going to be a risk to everyone in it. That in reality, not everyone was going to survive, but remembered as heroes.

Harry rested his hand on top of where their hands were joined.

"I will be with you again and we can go back to being the trio, I really do love you guys" he whispered with a soft smile.

"They love you too Harry" Luna smiled warmly.
