Today, went from bad to worse. Lindsay had been in the car when her own father had died, and had been almost drowned inside of it. Catherine wanted Gil with her, to make her feel safe and for her to know that everything was going to be okay, but he was off with Lady Heather, seeming like he didn't care about her at all.
Catherine Willows lay on her bed, fully clothed, tears streaming down her face and her body shaking with the force of her tears.
Lindsay lay behind her mother, leaning her head on her mothers shoulder and stroked her mothers hair trying to soothe her, like a mother would her child.
Catherine covered her face with her hand, to stop her daughter seeing her cry, although her daughter already knew.
The doorbell rang and Cath was too upset to even realise.
Lindsay kissed her mothers head and climbed off of the bed and went to the door, opening it to Gil Grissom, she had called him before going into her mother's room and asked him to come over.
Gil bent down, "Are you okay?" he asked softly
Lindsay shook her head, "I'm scared" she whispered, beginning to cry, as he held her close and lifted her up.
Gil held her close, "Where's your mommy?"
Lindsay pointed towards her bedroom, "She's crying, she won't stop" she said softly, "I want mommy to be happy again, like she is with you" she said softly, "You have to tell her you love her, cause she loves you too" the small girl admitted.
Gil nodded, "I will, I promise you, come one let's go see her"
Lindsay nodded as he carried her into Cath's bedroom, and lay her on her mother's bed.
He lay on the bed, pulling Catherine to him, so she curled up to him, and calmed, and Lindsay curled up to the other side.
Catherine breathed in his scent feeling calmer and safer. She had her head on his chest, and her right hand above his heart, holding her daughter's hand, while one of her legs was over his right one.
She opened her eyes and looked at her daughter, Lindsay fell asleep after whispering, "Goodnight mommy and daddy"
Gil smiled, as did Cath, "Goodnight" they whispered in unison
Cath looked up at him, "Why are you here Gil?"
Gil smiled and ran his hand through her strawberry blonde locks, "Because I love you, and Lindsay called and said you were upset, so I came over" he said and kissed her forehead
She smiled through her tears, "I love you too Gil"
Gil grinned, "I know, Lindsay told me"
Cath smiled brightly, "She loves you too"
Gil smiled, "And I love her too"
Catherine smiled, and rested her head back on his chest as he whispered, "Go to sleep, you need some rest" he whispered as he pulled a blanket over them all.
They fell asleep together, like a real family, not knowing that tomorrow Cath would reveal a secret that would change their lives for the better. The secret that Lindsay Willows was really Lindsay Grissom, because about 7 years ago, Cath and Gil had slept together, when Cath had gone to him after having a beating from her husband. This was something that would only bring them closer, because it would mean that Lindsay had a father she could trust and love, and Catherine would have her soul mate.
