Death

I saw Envy's true form; Hoenheim's first son: my half brother. I was trembling from shock, but who wouldn't in a situation like this?

"What's wrong? I thought you wanted to see" he said.

"You're...his son..." I said softly.

"Envy was the very first Homunculi, created by Hoenheim almost four hundred years ago. The result of the failed human transmutation of our son who died prematurely of mercury poisoning. I suppose you could say that Envy was once your brother" said Dante.

"But then he abandoned me, started fresh with his perfect wife and kids. Needless to say I never did like being replaced" he said.

I'm not quiet sure what happened next. There was pain in my chest and I coughed up blood. Then I was on the floor and heard Rose scream my name. Then everything went black.

The next thing I know I was standing in front of the gate, or my soul was anyway. I thought I saw Al in his armor for a moment, but then it disappeared. Then Envy showed up.

"What;s going on?! Where am I you worm?"he asked.

"The gate" I said.

He turned around and saw it.

"So what's on the other side of it?" he asked.

"I don't know. For me it was a place called London if I remember right, that's what my old man said"

Envy turned back to me enraged.

"Old man?! You mean Hoenheim of light?!"

"Yes"

"YOU'RE TELLING ME HE'S STILL ALIVE?!"

He made a growling noise and stomped over to the gate and tried to pull the doors open.

"I wouldn't do that, there's no way to know where it'll lead for you"

He managed to pull the door open a bit.

"Like hell there isn't, I'll tell it exactly where to take me. I've come to kill him! Take me to Hoenheim of Light!"

The black hands grabbed him and pulled him in. Then the gate closed.

I felt my soul being pulled back and started crying knowing that Al probably did something.

"Al..."

I opened my eyes and saw Rose leaning over me.

"Edward? Can you hear me?"

"Yeah"

I felt a tear run down my check and wiped it away with my right hand.

"What am I crying for?"

Then I noticed that my right hand was no longer metal, it was flesh and blood just like it should be. A bit of panic washed over me as I sat up and felt me left leg: That was flesh and blood too.

"Al?"

"He used alchemy to bring you back Ed, after you died"

"The Philosopher's stone; He used it to fix my body and pull my soul back from the gate, but then what happened to him?"

I didn't want to believe it, that my only little brother was gone. Rose didn't say anything, she just looked away.

"Don't tell me he's gone Rose"

I got up and and looked around. I called his name three times, each time with an ache in my chest and panic in my voice. I must've scared Rose's son because he started crying and Rose tried to comfort him.

I told Rose to to take Wrath and get to the surface. I told her I was going to destroy this place, but I really was going to try and bring him back. Once they were gone I drew the array on the floor along with circles on my arms legs and one on my chest and forehead.

I knew there was a chance that it wouldn't work, and that I might kill myself trying, but I had to try for my brother's sake. For Alphonse Elric.
