Rigby sat in the passenger seat of the car, watching the city lights as they passed by in a blur in his window. He barely caught a glimpse of the coffee shop as He watched Margaret doing her best to escape the storm. A clap of thunder sent shivers coursing through him, hair standing on end. He could hear the pitter patter of rain as it collided against the winshield. Each drop rebounding just loud enough to soothe him into tranquility as he closed his eyes. The car remained near silent as he pressed further into the leather interior, smells of incense infecting his nostrils. His ears swiveled forward for better reception.
A few minutes passed before he opened his eyes to look up into the vast darkness that was the night. Staring up into the void, he felt he could fall into that sea of shadow. He rolled the window down, just enough to feel the wind on his face. The drops of rain were hard, but his fur protected him from the worst of the sting. The smell was enough to aleviate any uncertainty or regret in his decision. His nose twitched as he sniffed what he could in the peltering rain. He smiled, eyes closed, as the coolness washed over him. The air permeated his fur and washed over him entirely. Finally, just when his entire face had become damp, a chuckle from the driver brought him out of his reverie. "There aren't many who would willingly let rain pelt them like that."
Rigby shrugged in indifference. "Can't help it. The rain just... Makes me feel better, at ease, ya know."
He didn't bother to look at the driver as he rolled his eyes. "I can roll up the window, if it's bothering you."
Ten seconds passed before the driver spoke up. "Heh, don't worry about it. The seats can't get any more dirty then they already are."
Rigby let a chuckle escape his lips as he gazed at the trees, the stars finally finding time to show themselves. His eyes drifted shut as the car continued to gently rock him. The lullaby of the rain continuing as his eyes drifted closed. Even when the car finally came to a halt, the soft snores continued into the night.
